Cool yourself Jervante. If EA's running back played behind Brumfield and company, you would've seen multiple long runs.
Brosette is good, gets every inch out of every run he can, has good vision, and runs pretty hard, but I wouldn't call him an All American just yet.

I didnt name him an all-american...he was named an Air Force Freshman All American after last season...surprised the heck out of me too...I would have never thought...

Searched and didnt see this posted anywhere.
Nice interview with Dylan was uploaded yesterday.

Good job, jrevonte. So far he seems really humble and is soft spoken. I have a feeling he is quite a bit more timid than his dad, haha.
Its fun to see the attention that he is getting this young. I was still playing golden eye on n64 and having nerf wars at the end around his age. I would be happy if I didnt get lost in between classes at school

Will U-High have the depth of talent needed to overcome Curtis and Evangel in 2A?
I mean, it's one thing to have a stud here and there. A Tim Williams and a typical 2A defense, or slightly above average 2A defense, besides him. Or Brossette behind Brumfield and otherwise a typical, to a bit above average 2A team around them on offense.
But Curtis and Evangel have across-the-board above-average talent, like good 4A and 5A schools.
Is U-High there yet? Up to this point, there has been a clear chasm between where Curtis and Evangel are and where U-High is.
They were very close to beating Evangel this past year. One crazy/odd/lucky touchdown for Evangel was the difference.
They couldn't stop Nick for their lives

Averaged, what, 12 yards a carry? And their defense wanted no part of him-he was treating them like speed bumps as he rolled over them. So what did we do on our final drive? Heave the ball down the field. He never touched the rock, when we had plenty of time and just needed one score.

Nick had done so much i personally think that he was exhausted near the end of the game...i saw JFranklin in the backfield a couple of times toward the end of the game....
If both Nick and Dylan stay healthy this year i think that Nick will have an even better year than he had last year because he will have the opportunity to rest and regain his strength after some of those long runs...JMO

quote:I'm just asking, you think Dylan will get some carries this year? I've heard he will play mostly LB. But, that came from a few players (no one on the staff). They seem to think Dylan won't touch the rock until after Nick leaves. Guess we will just have to wait and see how it plays out.

bruh imma be honest, i hope he does, I will love to see him bust through the left side of the line right up behind Garrett then bump left and ride the sideline!!!
thank shite will be awesome to see...from what i understand, he is working at Lb tho. I am assuming that coach will run him at some point just to give nick a break but you 're right we'll see because he may just want Dylan to play defense only;
Which to me would be odd especially if you know that he is a powerback that could give you a nice series or two deep in the game when conditioning is at a premium. JMO
I tell you what tho, the spring game will let you know exactly how they intend to use him for the season if at all. should be interesting.

In HS I say you let your best players touch the ball. Regardless how it translates to college/pro. even if he outgrows RB at some point. It wouldn't matter in HS.

He might have been tired, but the guys attempting to tackle him must have been more tired than he was, as the entire second half, their defense looked like they were hoping someone else would bring him down so they wouldn't get hit by him. They didn't want any of that. I'd at least have handed him the ball a couple of times to see. But then again, I'm simply an observer, not the coach.
I'd love to see them in the backfield at the same time. Opposing defenses would be shaking in their cleats. That said, we lost 2 big hitting, playmaking linebackers, so he could make an instant impact there.

Ever since mahaffey and martin took over coaching, they try to do as little 2-way players as possible, which is the complete opposite of previous coaches.

When is the spring game? There will most likely be lots of changes after the spring game.

I understand their thought process, but can't say I'm a big fan of it. I've got one now on the defensive side that could benefit the offense, but won't be given that chance. And we've been blowing teams out so thoroughly that there were many games that my oldest would finish the game at halftime having barely broken a sweat, so it's not a matter of keeping them fresh in most games.
It's interesting how many other schools we play, at least at the 2A level, that play their best 15-20 or so players on both sides of the ball. I suppose some of that is due to the numbers on our team being much higher than a few years ago.
In any case, it's kind of hard to argue with the success the team has had, but every so often you look at a kid and wonder what he could do playing another position. Big #77 certainly clogs up the middle of the line when he's in on goal line defense.

What number is your kid? I may know him
But yea, my dad didn't agree with it either. He played back at Uhigh when everybody would play both ways.
I think it's the right way to go though, as long as you have the right players on the right side of the ball

But it takes your best athletes off the field 50% of the game, which in a lot of smaller schools, means a dropoff in relative performance. The smaller school might have those 15-20 really good players, the larger school's next 15-20 might be nearly as good. That's really the difference.
That has to be balanced with fresh legs and some would say, fewer injuries. There are certainly a mix of schools following the two different schools of thought, hard to say which one is right.
Then there's John Curtis that dressed out, what, 104 kids in the Superdome? Pretty impressive for a school claiming an enrollment of only 300 and some odd.
