re: So Lorenzo Phillips...can LSU get this guy?

I think what Sherman is doing is taking some sleepers, with the hope they might turn into something, and hope that something turns up in their high school later on. What he needs to realize though is if LSU wants a kid in LA, they will more than likely win out against most other teams, and every time against A&M. So, I think Sherman is getting his foot in the door of an empty house. Outside of Phillips (and maybe not even him at this point in the year), Sherman is still going after the table scraps left behind by LSU. Is Stewart LSU caliber? Yes, but I think Batiste may be the only LA CB that LSU gets before going OOS for the rest.
At the same time though, A&M needs to focus more on staying put in Texas. They can't beat out Texas for anyone, and then have to battle for the rest against LSU, Oklahoma, Tech (Tuberville might start making marks soon), and now even TCU. With TCU joining the Big East and getting that automatic BCS bid, they will even start overpowering A&M for prospects.

Pedro do you think Lorenzo would goto Texas Am over LSU? I am from that area and I can't ever think of any Patterson guy that was offered by LSU not go there. Well nevermind Ike went to Florida but LSU was pretty bad then. I wish Mike Callias would have been 10 years later. It would have been nice to see him play for a good LSU team. He is probably the best LB to come out of Patterson, don't you think?

i would be willing to be that pedro has no idea of who the hell maike callias is. for someone who pretends to know whats going on, he sure is unsure about a whole lot of things. lorenzo is a very good player, but im not sure he is quite as good as callais was. callais was a pretty bad dude. lorenzo was supposed to be offered by lsu this week, but im not sure if that happened or not. chavis did say that lorenzon was the best linebacker in the state coming back next year.

He reminds me of a quicker Darry Beckwith. Beckwith just had that nose for the ball and got there pretty fast. Phillips can get there quicker though. Would like to see some film of him in pass coverage as most of that film is him on a blitz or coming up to stop the run

so how is that big Texas A&M lead looking right now?
Posted on 2/18/11 at 6:21 pm to memphisplaya
In an interview a few weeks ago he said he already knew where he wanted to play and it was at A&M. He also stated that he didn't care for LSU much.
I get the impression that his mom doesn't have the same feelings for A&M that he does.
We will learn a lot this weekend as Lorenzo and his family will be in College Station.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if he committed this weekend.

It's a sfae bet that Phillips won't be commiting to TAM this weekend.
Maximus, are you crazy? You seriously think the guys ranked 20-30 in LA can compete with the guys ranked 20-30 from Texas or FL?Not on a regular basis.Maybe a kid here or there but in most cases the guys ranked that high in those states are still ranked as 4* prospects. In most years, including this year, the top 75(maybe the top 100) players in Texas and Florida are on the level of the top 20-30 in LA.LA has great talent but to think LA can compare to those states 20-30 deep in the rankings is not logical.
