Currently 19 offers to LA recruits for 2022 class. LA class is deep. Hopefully we get most of the guys we want from this list.

Note: The state ranking by each names is a reference to the 247Sports Composite.

Walker Howard (No. 1) - QB - St. Thomas More (Lafayette) … Howard landed in the Top 100 and got an LSU offer before he had earned a starting snap at STM, but he’s lived up to the billing as one of the nation’s best quarterback prospects following his run to a state title in December. Howard, the son of former LSU quarterback Jamie Howard, is already committed to LSU.

Will Campbell (No. 2) - OT - Neville High (Monroe) … Campbell is ranked as one of the top five offensive tackles in America, and it’s not often a blue-chip tackle comes around in Louisiana. Campbell will announce his decision on Jan. 30, giving the Tigers a chance to make another huge splash early in the process.

Shazz Preston (No. 3) - WR - St. James High (St. James) … Preston has been on the recruiting radar for as long as anyone in the class, and he locked in an early offer from the Tigers as he put his name onto the map as a key player in a state title win as an underclassmen.

Jacoby Mathews (No. 4) - S - Ponchatoula High (Ponchatoula) … Mathews has the frame to stay at safety or move to linebacker, and he’s got the playmaking abilities to make him a Top 100 prospect. LSU will battle hard here to reel in the versatile defender out of Ponchatoula, the same high school as LSU quarterback TJ Finley.

Kendrick Law (No. 5) - ATH - Captain Shreve (Shreveport) … Put him at wide receiver, running back, cornerback, kick returner, punt returner, etc. Law can do a bit of everything, which is why LSU jumped in early with an offer where Law can choose which path he feels might fit him best at the college level.

Le'Veon Moss (No. 6) - RB - Istrouma High (Baton Rouge) … Istrouma was home to Billy Cannon in high school, and after multiple years without football, the Indians returned to the field and are powered by Moss, who is quickly turning into one of the most sought after running backs in America. He’s currently ranked as the No. 5 running back in the 2022 class.

Trevor Etienne (No. 7) - RB - Jennings High (Jennings) … The younger brother of Clemson running back Travis Etienne is set to enter his senior season in 2021, and he’s remained a Top 10 prospect in the state of Louisiana after landing an early offer from LSU. Clemson, Alabama and a number of other top teams have joined LSU with scholarship offers.

J'Mond Tapp (No. 8) - DE - Ascension Catholic (Donaldsonville) … Tapp is one of the most recent prospects to land an offer from LSU as he got the good news from Orgeron this past week. At 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, Tapp is ranked as a Top 10 weak side defensive end prospect in the current recruiting cycle.

Laterrance Welch (No. 9) - CB - Acadiana High (Lafayette) … Welch just committed to LSU on Sunday, giving the Tigers a third cornerback commitment to the class in just a few weeks span. As a state champion at Acadiana, the four-star prospect is widely viewed as one of the best cornerbacks in the 2022 class. The recent offer and push for a commitment by LSU paid off here.

TreVonte' Citizen (No. 10) - RB - Lake Charles College Prep (Lake Charles) … Citizen joined Tapp as one of the offers to come out of LSU over the past week. The two-way player is ranked as the No. 19 running back prospect in the class.

Tygee Hill (No. 11) - DT - Edna Karr (New Orleans) … Hill landed an early offer from not just LSU, but plenty of The Who’s Who of college football teams. The four-star defensive tackle already has multiple state championships under his belt.

AJ Johnson (No. 12) - WR - Newman (New Orleans) … Johnson had to sit out the 2019 season at Newman, but he emerged as Arch Manning’s top target as a junior this past season. LSU’s offer came once he got back onto the field for the first time since his freshman season at McMain, and now the Tigers will push to add the four-star to the class.

Shone Washington (No. 13) - DT - Warren Easton (New Orleans) … Washington had been committed to LSU until recently, choosing to open back up his recruitment given he’s got a year-plus to decide on a college. The New Orleans native has offers from a handful of other SEC teams, including Alabama, Florida and Texas A&M.

Aaron Anderson (No. 14) - WR - Edna Karr (New Orleans) … Another Edna Karr name on the offer list is Anderson, and he’s also on LSU’s commitment list after he shut things down following his offer from the staff. Instead of playing the waiting game, the Tigers made their move and locked up another Top 15 player in the state.

Decoldest Crawford (No. 15) - WR - Green Oaks High (Shreveport) … The Green Oaks standout has moved into the spotlight for the team at receiver the past two seasons, and he was one of the first commitments into LSU’s class when he got on board in 2019.

Emery Jones (No. 16) - OL - Catholic High (Baton Rouge) … LSU’s gone back to the well at Catholic High with another offer, this time to an offensive lineman in Jones. He’s versatile enough to play center or offensive guard, and the early Crystal Ball predictions peg the four-star to stay in the city for college and sign with the Tigers.

Javae Gilmore (No. 21) - OLB - Amite High (Amite) … LSU jumped into the mix with a verbal scholarship offer for the Amite High standout on Jan. 11. Gilmore has great size at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds as a junior, and he logged 54 tackles, nine tackles for loss, five sacks, five pass breakups, three interceptions and two interceptions returned for touchdowns. LSU joins Kentucky, Mississippi State, Arkansas and Ole Miss as his early SEC offers.

Quency Wiggins (No. 23) - DE - Madison Prep (Baton Rouge) … You can’t miss Wiggins on the field, playing his junior year this past fall at 6-foot-6, 265 pounds. He landed his LSU offer on Jan. 15, then offers from Kentucky and Michigan quickly followed. With nearly 20 college offers, Wiggins will be one of the more heavily-recruited defensive linemen in Louisiana this cycle.

Bo Bordelon (No. 31) - OT - Newman (New Orleans) … AJ Johnson isn’t the only 2022 prospect at Newman with an LSU offer. Bordelon grabbed a scholarship from Orgeron this past week, which means the Tigers now have offers out to three in-state linemen in Campbell, Jones and Bordelon. Bordelon is the son of former LSU offensive lineman and All-SEC selection Ben Bordelon.

Don't get a good vibe with Jocoby Mathews epically with TJ running with the 2nd team, and that's best case. Etienne doesn't give of the P&G vibe but I would take all three in split second. Hill is another kid from NOLA so not feeling like he will be in this class. Hated that Shone decommitted and doubtful getting back on the list. My biggest head scratcher is Gilmore. Jones, Bo, and Wiggins all have great upside but I just don't see a development kid out of Amite is on the list of 25 next year. So that list of 19 is looking more like 14 and lets say I goofed on one, 15. Sounds about right for a quality year in LA.

I’m sure we could end up adding more offers to the list.

They could stay in LA this year and that would be one hell of a class and it meets almost every need except for possibly LB and TE

I just really hope they don’t slow play those two like they did Jardin Gilbert this past cycle

Who would you have replaced to sign Jardin? Langlois is better and surely not Davis or Sage.

I’m not upset that we lost Gilbert, I just hope they don’t make the same mistake with anyone in the 2022 class (and it resulting in us losing a recruit we really need).

Regarding J. Gilbert specifically, I wouldn’t trade him for Ryan, Davis or Langlois. I’m happy the way it turned out, but I know the staff really did want Gilbert in the end. And IMO, the reason we lost him was because we offered so late that we never could recoup the ground lost to ATM (Who had been recruiting him hard all along).

Crown is right about his frame and LB. I have no idea if he would be open to the switch but the kid is growing into the Proto typical size for linebacker in today’s football

I could easily see LSU taking 15 kids from LA in this class. Really strong class for the state.

I think we land Matthews and Washington when all is said and done. Matthews is looking more and more like a must get. He keeps getting better.

It's being talked about as a position that he grows into.

Yep, for sure. Check out that picture with 3-4 of his LA Bootleggers teammates (Welch, Allen & K. Rogers). He’s significantly bigger than those guys!
