With the coaching moves and some of the stuff going on in general I'm not too suprised about it.

We're bringing in some young energeatic coaches that are great at recruiting, I'm not worried about it.

You asking because of the Flowers interview?

How do you figure Texas is lazy? Didn't they just steal Davis from us?

Texas is notoriously lazy when it comes to going head to head for recruits.

From what I heard we stopped calling Janzen for months before the shite went down.

Well Texas is about to take the #1 LB in the entire country out of Ohio State's Backyard, after a long and difficult recruitment against both Florida & Ohio State (with USC & Bama coming a long for the ride as well) for his services. Doesn't seem particularly lazy to me.

They aren't lazy. They just benefit from having a huge pool of players who dream of playing at UT and put the hard sell on them right away....

They are kind of lazy though. They get 18-20 guys after their recruiting weekend in March, and then they recruit 8-10 guys the rest of the year. Of course the situation allows them to do that and still end up with a great recruiting class outside of a marquee running back just about every year.

I don't know. I just think it's a different style. Mack tries to secure up as many early commits as possible. He's already working on sealing up next year's class imo. He works a year in advance.

I guess I just see it differently.

Hicks is a special talent and Muschamp is his recruiter. That's why they are fighting so hard for him.Jeffcoat is a top talent and Darius White.Last year they fought for Jarvis Jones until the end. They are just very selective.

Do you have links to any of these quotes other than message boards/blogs?

I think folks make up stuff based on their opinions and write it in a blog or message board and soon it becomes an accepted fact.

Since Les has been here we have always had great (not good) recruiting classes and excelled in OOS talent as well . Losing a few recruits in state and OOS is not going to change that.

I think OBUDan hit the nail on the head. I don't think Texas is lazy I think they have a little different philosophy about recruiting. First they want kids who WANT to play for Texas because Mack feels when the chips are down, players committed to play for Texas make big plays. Also, since Mack has arrived, the biggest recruiting problem they have is having enough scholarships for the kids who want to play for Texas from the state of Texas. As one recruiting guru said, they don't recruit as much as they SELECT from Texas players.

Geez, even in NCAA '10 I call my soft verbals AT LEAST FOR 5 MINUTES to make sure they stay on board. Do coaches really have 10 hours per week they can spend

Is that where Hicks is going now?

The talk lately had all been Florida, Florida, Florida...

Texas is in a unique situation where they recruit a year ahead for the bulk of their class and go after a few select guys very hard.

We appear to be going after recruits a year earlier, but more out of neccesity to combat the people offering our in state talent when they are Jr's.

Also, I wonder how much this has to do with Porter interviewing and being hired by Memphis?

It's clear to me that LSU has become lazy to the point of not even giving a crap anymore.

My son is now 4 and he's has not heard anything from LSU. I'm talking no postcards, no emails, no texts, no calls, nothing, nada, zip, zilch and zero.

Right now, he acts like he's completely oblivious to the whole thing, but deep down I know he's hurting and wondering what the hell.

You can't continue to treat these kids like this and not eventually face the piper.
