Rooting against Florida

Follow my logic.
Since we won our first bcs title our recruiting has been much easier. Then our second bcs title is only helping to get one of the best classes ever.
So if winning a National title equals better recruiting classes, shouldn't we want OU to win this Thursday, purely because of the competition for southern recruits?

No. You want UF so all the best recruits will come to the sec. Although UF will be helped out by a win, the other great recruits will also want to play in the sec as well.

I'm torn here, but I think I will pull for Florida.
Florida will always get theres. For that matter, so will Oklahoma. Gotta go SEC. If someone else has 2 BCS championships, I want it to be another SEC team.
The strength of the SEC is also a reason recruits come to LSU. We don't just get to the big game. We win it.

in bowls and MOST OOC games:
1) LSU
2) SEC
end of discussion for me

Is who we pull for going to affect the outcome?

Most big name recruits decided to stay near home this year. If we were recruiting for a kid in Alabama or somewhere in the south, i think we stand a better chance to land them if Florida loses. Where if Oklahoma wins they usually don't stand a chance with kids already living in the SEC states. I say a florida loss only helps us with those kids.

Yep...no question...Florida winning helps us get into future NC's too.
Also, I like making fun of my Big 10, ACC, Pac 10, and Big 12 friends...and yet another NC would make that really easy.

If i could find her I would hit it whether she wants me to or not.

Amen. I said this in 06 and got flamed to no end. Having our direct competition for recruits be successful only hurts our cause. Bama was due to Saban and playing time, so that is not the ordinary. Usually when a team sucks, they do not do well in recruiting.

I kinda like the history we have going on here.. no need to root against the pattern.
LSU 2003 (texas 05) FLORIDA 2006..LSU 2007..FLORIDA 2008*.. next year is ours. LSU 2009..

No doubt about it. if we band together UF has no chance.

Good pattern. I like our pattern.

1) UF has, and will continue for the foreseeable future, "done well". Winning or losing this BCS CG is not going to suddenly paint UF as 'sucking'.
2) There is a 25 scholly limit. Generally, more than 1/2 of those will be a given team "locks" (Davenport, Ford, etc this year). Thus, we are 'battling' over only a few recruits. I admit, these are ELITE talents, but only a few, nevertheless.
I prefer to have the idea in people's head that the SEC is the PREMIER conference and to assume that the SEC champ is 1/2 of the title match up, than to see UF get beat.

I heard Les Miles is undefeated in Out of Conference games since being with LSU. I know it's a bunch of cup cakes but that is still impressive.

I hope OU wins... a stronger Florida does not help us at all. We both go after the same recruits more so than LSU vs. OU. Plus we have to play UF every year. If UF wins the “SEC dominance” serves as a decent consolation prize.
