Honestly, I really don't like that idea at all Flask. I think sometimes it's about digging deeper and finding "other" guys. Those that take the initiative to look outside the rivals 250 and find guys that they think will succeed in college is part of the draft I think.
The NFL draft isn't limited to BCS schools. I think inevitably, if you choose a guy that doesn't attend a BCS conference then goes to the NFL, that's pretty awesome if you can get that done.
Just my two cents. I like how we have done it. I almost took a guy from Arkansas State because I thought he was a good athlete and I thought he would do well there.
Admittedly, I have been iffy about it for the same reason. I don't know why I chose a side today.

That is for me and me only. Sorry.

Chicken!
Dan is going to be ranking us when we're all done. It's not a big deal. I like the idea of debate around here and talking about our teams because we all have different thoughts/preferences/strategies.
At the end of the day, even the best team on paper sucks the most because they fail in college (academically or athletically or get hurt or lost on the depth chart, etc.

I picked one FCS player and three non-BCS guys. I picked most of my players based on thier athletic ability, potential to start, offers, coaching style and program prestige.
My strategy was based upon the idea that there will only be so many All Americans, so I'm trying to get guys who will be four year starter and have a good chance to go in the NFL draft and be all conference.
But, if you think about it, the more prestigeous your school+plus coaching+playing time usually leads to All American status. Again, I think J. Parker may be better than McVey, but I think he gets more PT and will make all-conference more easily than Parker which will probably make him a higher draft selection and possible all american.
IMO, IMHO, FWIW

Some of you guys didnt do a very good job of finding players that fit a system. JMO.
I didnt care about a system I draffted as if this was a fantasy draft.

Same here. I didn't take the best QB available, I took the one that's going to rack up the most stats.

Yeah, that was the weird thing about not knowing what the point of the draft was (besides just having fun). I drafted on talent, but also tried to fit the system. Where as, you picked systems that would fit in the most "star" positions.
Both legit strategies, but different. I honestly thought about running a 2RB/3WR package and a Dime defense because RB/WR/CB are all star positions.

The good thing is that we can iron out the problems with this draft, so the following years can run much smoother (If we continue to do this).
But most of all, it is all fun and games. There is no monetary prize, or trophy. Just bragging rights to the guy who somehow got lucky that most of his players were good. I can next to guarantee that 60% to 75% of these players will actually end up playing very limited time or sucking all together. For shits and giggles, go back and look at the position rankings from years past. Half of the names you probably didn't hear. Its crazy that one or two of each top ten actually pan out when there are usually three or four twenty or thirty ranked guys hit it off.
That is what makes this so much fun.

That's one of the reason's I really like this. I would never have paid attention to D. Long or some RB from Tx Tech unless they were stars and that's why I didn't take any LSU guys because I will already follow them.

I agree with you, but I actually wanted at least one LSU guy, but they got sucked up awful early.
I'm thinking about taking Brad Wing as my second supp pick.

So what do you do now that Bates has been shipped to Illinois?
Supp. bait?

Is he not going to play football?
Obviously a joke pick. I don't really care if he doesn't play center. Center is so hard to predict that he's just as likely to end up at center as anyone else.

Okay, the final guy for my team will be Melvin Davis (Washington) as my FB/RB.
Now I'm ready to do some work in the supplemental round.................once someone explains the final rules to me.

With my final pick, I select OG Colin Tanigawa (Washington commit).
My final roster looks like this:
QB: Brett Nottingham (Stanford)
RB: Traylon Shead (Texas)
RB/WR: Corey Grant (Bama)
WR: Kyle Prater (USC)
WR: Ross Apo (BYU)
WR: Kenneth Scott (Utah)
LT: Alex Crosthwaite (Cal)
LG: Chad Lindsay (Bama)
OC: Miles Dieffenbach (Penn State)
RG: Colin Tanigawa (Washington)
RT: Dillon Bonnell (Stanford)
WDE: Zack McCray (Virginia Tech)
NT: Taylor Bible (Texas)
SDE: Calvin Barnett (Arkansas)
SLB: Nduka Onyeali (Arizona State)
ILB: CJ Mosely (Bama)
ILB: Jordan Zumwalt (Stanford)
WLB: Dominique Patterson (A&M)
CB: Garry Peters (Clemson)
CB: Jonathan McKnight (Arizona)
S: Erick Dargan (Oregon)
S: Sam Gibson (LSU)
I ended up switching over to a 3-4, because I really like Onyeali as a blitzing LB/DE type and I think that Mosely could easily end up in the middle. Pretty pleased with my offense, especially the way Nottingham moved up towards the end of the season.

Break down by conference:

Big 12: 2
Pac 10: 3
SEC: 2
Small School: 6

The question is do you still consider the MWC a small school conference? It was obvious the direction I decided to take at the end of the draft. Would it be better to take a more talented kid that might be lucky to start one or 2 years at a big school or take a small school kid that could be a star in his conference for maybe 3 or 4 years even.

It appears that GeauxCroTigers has quit. He hasn't made his last 3 picks and I have no contact info for the guy. But, instead of throwing a near complete team into the pool, I say we just pick his final 3 guys, once Bayou gets his last pick in.
It looks like he needs a FB/WR, a DB and a OL.
