I'd say you guys are the ones who need to find a front seven that can compete in the SEC.

LSU's defense had twice the talent on the field that the Vols did. You guys just had a better DC than we did.

I wasn't talking trash, fwiw. I was stating a fact. You guys are extremely thin in your front seven for this coming season.

I wish schools couldn't offer scholarships if the recruit doesn't meet the minimum requirements (or offer only gray shirt scholarships) I think it would force recruits to focus on their grades more..

Vol92

When was the last time ya'll won a NC? Hell, when was the last time ya'll won an SEC Championship? When was the last time ya'll won anything of note?

F..k you, you f..king flamer. Go to a Vol site if you don't like it here. Go suck Kiffins nuts; although you might want to wait until he grows pubic hair though!

Looks like a good prospect, aside from grades.

Please don't steal him, we need DTs.

Unless he is in jail,Tennessee will take him.

He is LSU to take if he gets his grades together. He was at the LSU spring game hanging out with the other recruits.

I've heard that crap before. Sometimes you can wait too long even if the kid is all LSU. It is a thin line, but I think Miles is a little too conservative on the grade issues.

Why offer a kid who has a good chance of not making it? You only have a limited number of scholarships and if you offer a bunch of kids who don't qualify you only screw yourself over because you count on them.

Do you see my point?

I mean let's say you overcompensate and sign 32 kids because you think 7 won't qualify. Then 3 of the 7 do end up qualifying and now you have screwed yourself over because you now have 25 scholarships to give to 28 kids.

On the flip side let's say you sign 25 and there's 4 kids who are borderline academically but you think they can make it...3 of the 4 don't end making it now once again you've screwed yourself over because you could of given those scholarships out to kids who actually would of made it. Especially lets say if 2 of 3 that didn't make it were the only 2 WRs you signed that class. It leads to holes in depth.

Dealing with a bunch of non-qualifiers is not a good way to run a football program IMO. It can lead to a lot of unhappy kids who expect to have a scholarship but don't end up getting one and then problems in depth when kids you expect to make it don't.

I'm glad Miles is not just handing out scholarship offers to anyone now (academically). Show to them if you really want to be an LSU Tiger you need to get to work in the classroom. Sure, we'll lose some kids to other schools that do end up qualifying we either slow played or didn't offer because of grades, but I'd rather that than deal with the aforementioned issues of dealing with many non-qualifiers.

It sucked when he first got here and we had so many non-qualifiers in signning classes (and then there was DeAngelo Benton).

This is what happens when "flamers" come on an LSU board. THEY/ya'll are welcomed to your opinions; we in turn are welcomed ours as well. We're also very likely to defend our team, players and coaches.

Were this a UT or even UA board, I would not have responded. Since it's and LSU board....I did.

Tbird, I understand the issues, but thanks for pointing out the obvious. As I said, there is a fine line, but IMHO Les is a little too conservative. I'm not saying he should offer every hanging dick with grade issues, but there's nothing wrong with a couple of question marks each year. Any coach should be able to shuffle around a couple of kids to get the numbers right.

Grade issue kids also have a lot of problems staying academically eligible once they get here.

See: Ricky Jean Francois.

I agree there are risks. Les is just a little too risk averse lately on this issue IMO. I guess he was burned a few times and chooses to take the safer route. I like Miles, but just disagree with his philosophy on this issue.
