I know. I was just clarifying my post, and adding the 2004 draft picks, since you mentioned Jamaar Taylor for A&M.

Mike Farrell on RSJ
"We all know that Mack Brown doesn't want to get into a fight where he doesn't feel it's a fair fight, doesn't want to bring a knife to a gun fight so to speak..." What's he talking about?

On 1st impression it seemed to be referencing to Mack's thinking and the rumors. As the comments go on he doesn't agree with the tactic and thinks Mack is going back to his old stance with recruits in this instance, meaning that he's giving up a battle he doesn't think he can win. Basically quitting to save face.
I like that he feels the same as those I trust, LSU is the favorite and have been for a while(some of these things don't come down to what the kid wants), but I think he may have just jinxed us. I don't believe in such things but Farrell has a bad track record with predicitions.

basically, if a kid isn't a lifelong Texas fan and Mack has to wine and dine the prospect, it's not in his interest to do so….
Mack wants the most result with the least amount of work, that's why they typically target only guys that are lifelong locks to be Longhorns… little effort, maximum payoff… kids that would sell their soul to Satan just to wear burnt orange….
he realizes his program is no where near Bama, LSU, USC, etc., right now, and if he has to go toe to toe with those guys, he's probably going to lose in the end, so why even try? it's stupid, because you never know, but that's the Mack Brown Recruiting Agenda…..

I hope Mack Brown stays at Texas forever.

Rich Texas Alumni have answered the program's call on many occasions when recruiting battles get hot. This was Mack knowing he's not going to win, so he preemptively bowed out to save face.

BTW, Texas is in a few recruiting battles right now and not bowing out to save face. There are plenty of players on the roster now that render that idea as false...Jackson Jeffcoat, Jordan Hicks, Malcom Brown(Aggy lock, remember?) and Torshiro Davis to name a few.
Texas dropping out is not about saving face. You won't recruit well at anything with that type of mindset.
Wish RSJ luck as from all indications he is a real good kid.
You Aggies can now thank us for bowing out as it probably means you get to claim the silver medal instead of bronze.

RSJ obviously has handlers with their hands out...hence why Mack doesn't want anything to do with him. Everyone knows that Texas is above that type of recruiting and why UT backed away from RSJ.
signed,
Shaggybevo.

Don't bring him up and still try to say that Texas isn't dirty.

B.frickinS. Mack is a greasy old Bastard that thinks players should commit on the spot, once given an offer to that shite hole 40 aches of a Barn-yard waste, they call the UT campus...he's slowly killing the Longhorns with his Old Fart Ego, e should have stepped aside and let Muschamp take over.

Is he going to be a signing day announcement, or is there a chance he is an early enrollee?

It is beyond ridiculous how many A&M and Texas fans think everyone else pays for recruits. All fan bases have homers that yell that out when they lose a recruit, but it seems like the state of Texas is full of those types. (I guess part of school and state pride run amok.)
Which makes little sense in terms of A&M vs Texas, because if your average middle of Texas Aggie or Longhorn saw a blatant gift to a recruit by the rival school, you know they would make sure personally that the story was blown wide open.
College recruiting is no where near as blatantly dirty as some simple minded folk want to believe. (Now on campus benefits, that is a whole 'nother ball game.)

I did.

So we were dirty with Torshiro but we won't try to play the same game with RSJ??

Sounds like a lot of Tiger fans whenever Bama snags a wanted recruit from LA right?

it's not blatant because it can't be…. but it's definitely dirty…. as a college fan, i have come to realize that pretty much every big school cheats/breaks the rules, but the difference is how well can you hide it and how many people do you have on the payroll….
i love LSU, but i'd have to be a fricking moron to think that LSU, getting the same top notch recruits as all of the schools we assume or accuse of cheating get, is totally in the clear when it comes to breaking a few rules…..
