This is a little off topic, but I wonder how many (if any) first rounders have ever only "started" in college their junior/senior year?

Brockers only started his SOPH year then parlayed that into 1st Rd draft pick. He had a RS season

None of these others were first rounders, but there is PLENTY of evidence just at LSU alone of how the NFL will find the talent if it exists.

Randall Gay wasn’t technically a starter his entire career (unless you consider NB, 3rd CB). He was stuck behind Webster and Daniels his entire Tiger career.

James Wright caught ZERO passes his SR season and made an NFL roster and lasted a few seasons.

Of course Debo was stuck behind depth chart (or better yet, CRIMINALLY overlooked by 3rd & Chavis). He was a 2nd rounder, so that’s pretty close to your scenario.

Duke and several others.

ETA: Danny McCray was never a full time starter his entire career. Went undrafted, and still had a 6-season NFL career.

Could be because basically every former LSU player that was drafted minus a few here and there have turned out to be not just contributers for their teams but have become superstars and are counted amongst the top players at their positions. From the view of just skill positions like wide receiver and defensive backs, even the late round and undrafted LSU players have become starters and are relied upon heavily...the same cannot be said about many Alabama players. I've watched more former Bama guys get in the NFL after getting drafted high and turn into instant bust material. For every single great Bama player, there are two or three that end up out of the league in a couple years. LSU has the highest number of former players on active rosters for like the what fifth year in a row....despite team success LSU has multiple first round talents in each draft class. Not even Alabama can compare to the success that former LSU guys are having so quickly in their careers. I mean look at this past draft class in total....two top 10 picks are both instant starters and are amongst the better overall players from jump in lf7 and adams. The lower first rounder has a Defensive rookie of the year type campaign in tre white. The two linebackers both go on to be inserted and relied upon amongst the starting units. Guys like Surtain go to LSU because in three years they'll be first round picks. And how Rick nuheisel doesn't seem to get the whole DBU thing is kinda puzzling....LSU gets the top overall or like a top 3-5 player at corner and safety every cycle....how it is surprising the best overall corner nationally wants to come to the place where the likes of Patrick Peterson, tyrann matheiu, Tre white, Morris Claiborne, Eric Reid, Jamal Adams, Jalen Mills, And etc...all became top round picks and mostly have been successful in the NFL should be looked at as totally normal, especially for DBs. I mean somehow without having a real passing Game for most of the last decade we still have the top overall wideouts coming in each year....because even when you somehow don't even catch a single pass you can still get drafted and be something in the league ask James wright all about that. Not to mention how the great ones like Odell and Landry have ended up after being so highly rated. As a skill guy in high school trying to get to the NFL first and worried about a championship in college way later...how could you not want to go to the nations most productive NFL factory in LSU. I guess nuheisel is just kinda stupid or something. Not like the factual information is literally a click away or whatever.

the statement doesn't bother me, Bama puts players in the NFL just as LSU does...and Bama wins championships as well, LSU can win them, that just hasn't been the case lately

also Bama needs a DB this year just as LSU does

so that said, the statement is meaningless, especially since it comes from someone whose opinion means nothing

Rick has really been riding Bama the past few months. Getting sickening and I turn it off frequently.

fricker was at it again slurping Bama’s dick saying how he doesn’t see anywhere else Surtain should go. Oh well, I’ll just have to change the station when he starts talking Recruiting I guess
