CEO has said he wants 2 QBs in this class. This thread is intended for those who may not be familiar with where we are at on the 2nd QB. Let's take a look at the most mentioned ones on this board & by recruiting guys.

Peter Parrish - DUAL QB. 6'1, Florida, Miss St, and Arizona St have offered him. #12 Dual QB on 247 Composite. Committed to LSU.

4.61, 40 yard dash. 4.32, 20 yard shuttle. (Fastest if you compare the top 5 Dual QB's with available 40 yard dash times).

Peter at LSU Camp

-Works through his progressions (with no pressure)
-Looks off the safety (and his receiver) multiple times
-Has nice touch on the deep ball. Timing is off with receivers who he isn't used to which is normal I would say.

Junior Year Highlights

-Nice touch on the deep ball with his receivers. Very accurate on the deep ball.
-Elite QB Breakaway speed on runs
-Can throw on the run / roll out
-My favorite part: Looks comfortable in the pocket & under pressure
-May lack a little accuracy from these 2 videos. (not a lot of accuracy)
-Could rely on his feet too much.

NOW WHAT ABOUT THE 2ND QUARTERBACK?

Coach O did say "I'm looking at a great one, I promise you that" (referring to a 2nd 2019 QB.

Options:

Lance LeGendre - 6'2 - DUAL QB. no LSU offer. Alabama, Florida St, Texas A&M & Georgia have offered. #5 Dual QB on 247 Composite. I can see why LSU has not offered but would rather add him if we don't land the others.

Junior Highlights

-Hits on the deep ball a lot. Definitely has the arm strength.
-His HS coaches give him an easy route a lot - screen & underneath crossing routes.
-His offensive route trees are either designed for him or not complex in nature. This is a concern. It appears the route tree combinations are not college level. It's 3-4 verticals & 1 underneath 80% of the time.
-Does not work through his progressions at all. Not sure if he can with that route tree in his highlights.
-Did not see his speed in the highlights.
-Definitely comfortable in the pocket & never under pressure in his highlights.

-I think the staff will offer if we miss out on Taulia.

Taulia - PRO QB. #8 at Elite 11 Final Rankings - Alabama commit. Offered by LSU, Florida & Michigan. #6 Pro QB on 247 Composite

Rumor of a flip coming to LSU for a while now. Some think Kardell Thomas was referring to him 2 months ago & recently chatter on here thinks he is flipping.

7 on 7 at The Opening Finals

-Playing elite level talent & making incredible throws.
-Looks through his progressions very quickly.
-Incredibly accurate
-Ball comes out fast
-Nice touch on his balls. Knows when to loft it & knows when to throw it hard in there.

Junior Highlights

-Gets happy feet & leaves the pocket too quickly to me
-When under pressure, he can extend plays with his feet & arm (keeps his eyes downfield)
-When he stays in the pocket, he sees the field SO WELL.

Would be a HUGE get if we flip. I see why CEO is spending time with him.

Knox Kadum - 6'2 - PRO QB. Offers from Akron, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina. No offer from LSU. #55 PRO QB -- lowest ranking that LSU is recruiting of the QBs.

Knox at LSU

-Looks to me like he has a long release. Take a second for the ball to get out. I would expect a lot of batted balls.
-The other highlights are on Hudl; not much that I could find on Knox. Unsure if he's worth a scholarship offer. Some on here don't think he is.

Grant Gunnell - 6'6 #15 PRO QB. Has LSU offer. Offers from Alabama, Texas A&M, Ohio St. Committed to Arizona.

Game Highlights
The Opening

-Strong arm with a nice touch.
-Comfortable in the pocket.
-Great mobility in the pocket (Big Ben esque)
-Great timing on his throws
-Very accurate
-Happy feet sometimes in the pocket

Ryan Hilinski - 6'4 #2 PRO QB. Offers from LSU, Ohio St, and Georgia. Committed to South Carolina. #3 at Elite 11 Rankings.

The Opening
Junior Year

-Makes very quick decisions
-Scary accurate on long balls. Like REALLY accurate.
-I don't really see him work through any progressions though
-Does make good decisions when it comes to who is in single coverage. He avoids double coverage & the safeties over the top.

Let me know what you guys think about these QBs.

TLDR:

Thoughts: I really feel like Peter's film looks better than Taulia's (I could be wrong). But man does he look good. Fast; works through progressions & looks defenders off. Taulia looks good WHEN he's in the pocket; he is often forced out / runs out too soon. I think both will be great college QBs. I think Gunnell is better than his "rating;" Hilinksi is incredible as we all know.

I tend to think the 2nd QB would be Taulia or Helinski since O is that confident to say it to the media. Maybe I'm just an overly optimistic LSU fan. I do think Gunnell is worth an offer if Hilinski or Taulia don't work out.

What to look for:

Which of these QBs are coming visit this weekend?

I don’t want Knox Kadum, or Lance Legendre. I would take Hilinski in a heartbeat, but he seems pretty locked to South Carolina. Taulia would be nice, he’s just small.

Agree on Knox & Lance.

I would take Gunnell if the other 2 don't work out.

Informative thread.

What always pains me is the talent of QBs at other schools which lack our ability to recruit. Example being Dungey at Syracuse or even Blough at Purdue. That being said remember we still have Brennan (who is going to redshirt this season) who has potential. Let’s hope O has the men in place to develop these young men which should be priority one.

I'm just saying I'd tread carefully with the younger Tagovailoa. Not talking about what's been said here before about it being an Alabama trap or the fact he's 5'10'. I'm talking about despite the Christian façade, that family is dirty AF. You don't go from Hawaii to a ready made house in Alabama without being on the take. Alabama, Saban and Lupoi can get away with that because of Emmert, but anyone else would be wise to be very careful.

I can't believe Kadum is even in this conversation. Just an absolute waste of scholarship.

Considering he visited LSU recently, I think he needs to be part of the conversation.

I'm not quite as harsh as you are.

But no, I don't think we should offer him.

Maybe they're playing him for a walk on spot? LSU is his only big offer

I'm hoping that Burrow stays one more year.

So this is the QB depth chart I see for the next two years:

2019: Burrow, Brennan, Parrish
2020: Brennan, Parrish, Finely, Holstein (ranked higher than his current 3 star ranking IMO)

If Burrow stays for one more year there is really no reason to stretch for a QB and potentially waste a scholarship in 2019.

Based on the 247 podcast it doesn’t sound like we will take a second unless it’s an elite prospect (like taulia).

I wouldn't be surprise if Taulia flip to LSU, he does not want to follow in his brother footsteps, he didn't even go to the same high school as his brother. Remember if Tau continues to play like this, he will probably win the Heisman

True. As much as I like Burrow and what he's contributed, if he declares after this season he's a late round or UDFA.

I know not taking LeGendre is a popular opinion here and obviously with the staff.

I have never seen the kid play in person but can someone explain to me how he has an offer from some of the schools on his list if he’s as bad as everyone says?

I’m not saying anyone is wrong, I trust you guys and the staff more than anyone else, I just find it really odd and somewhat intriguing

Reminds me of Brandon Harris. Maybe that's what others are seeing...
