I think it’s based on all 4-5 years plus academics. I think sami’s one of the best students on the team? Leah clapper for instance hasn’t had a great season this year but has gotten academic awards and a 10 in the past. UCLA and Kennedy Hambrick are noticeably missing from the nominees.

Well something isnt adding up, Desiderio did well in the classroom as well.

I thought each school nominated someone - or
Is that for the Honda award?

I’m not sure -seems like they can nominate a few given Florida having so many.

This just confirms Jay’s unfailing allegiance to Sami

Christina is having a far better year.

I don’t get it either, especially if more than one can be submitted for nomination. Jay has been so high on Christina this season.

5th year seniors should not even be allowed to be nominated. It’s absurd.

It sounds like Kai is having a shoulder problem that is being looked into. Also, no news on Alyona's knee yet either.

This is the BBS'S report on the NQS of teams going forward. LSU needs a good road score this weekend to drop the 196.825.

Quote: Auburn moved ahead of LSU and Alabama this week for the #2 position in the conference, but because Auburn and Alabama are at home this weekend, while LSU competes away with a 196.850 that can be dropped, it will be LSU’s performance on Friday that most determines the order of these three teams in next week’s rankings. LSU needs 197.350 this weekend to clinch a position ahead of both for week 8. As for Auburn and Alabama, Auburn has a verrrry slightly higher peak than Alabama does this week and can therefore guarantee staying ahead of Alabama with a 197.675. Basically, it will be about whoever has the better competition on Friday.

6. LSU
Road Score 1 197.825
Road Score 2 197.200
Road Score 3 196.850
Home/Road Score 1 198.050
Home/Road Score 2 197.975
Home/Road Score 3 196.950
Current NQS: 197.360
LSU used a two-meet weekend to get itself both a juicy, juicy 198 and a full NQS slate of six scores. With two 196s still hanging around, there’s lots of room to improve on this number and move up the rankings (see notes under Auburn). LSU still does have a long way to go to challenge the top four since Sunday’s second meet score was just 197.200, which isn’t a top-4 score, but would need three big scores out of four meets to get right up there, which is doable.

Oh no re-Kai! Glad we at least have some depth on vault and bars…beam not so much. Might be worth trying Reagan again

This is why they should have exhibitoned Dunne or KJ on beam. We basically know what Arenas is capable of. It’s a serviceable routine but it has a lot of small form things that would not allow for it to be a mainstay.

I don’t understand how we managed the exhibitions last weekend. Kind of like vault, we didn’t bother to attempt to get Ryan or Brock a chance with their 1.5 but throw Ryan out on bars despite the fact that she is literally never going to be in that lineup. Seemed like a major missed opportunity to me. Hopefully they do so this weekend

Jay made it sound like we won’t see her again this year due to her chronic back problems. He did say we could possibly see KJ on beam. I would assume Olivia would not be one to exhibition beam, because she’s not even getting a spot in the intrasquads we have been able to watch. I really can’t recall another year where there has been this many injuries that either have people out all together, or holding people out of lineups.

Alyona, Kai, Tori, Sarah, Reagan, Kiya, and Haleigh. And that’s just what we know about it.

Sarah has been seen in and out of a boot. I believe that’s why we haven’t seen her on floor since. I realize LSU has a set rotation now, but we didn’t see her this weekend either with two meets.

Anyone have the link to the press conference (I can't seem to find it this week - if that's what everyone is referencing). Yes, I saw Sarah had a boot on after vault last Friday, but honestly, I don't think she is in our best case floor lineup anyway. I have always been on the let's limit the super-seniors to their best train.

I am curious about Kai - but maybe beam is best case for a shoulder injury (at least as compared to vault and bars). It is a worry if we keep having to rely on Elena on bars - she seems very nervy (though perhaps that will get better as she gets more comfortable). As I said in the threads for Sunday's meet, we need a big road score (in the end that 197.2 isn't really going to cut it, not to mention the other 196s we still have lying around) and I am just afraid that with current lineup issues and competing at a D2 venue, we're going to have trouble reaching that goal.

I would put Brock over Arenas on bars.

At intrasquad, they finally got rid of Brock’s orphan giant half and that routine is 9.9 worthy.

I was thinking we could put Brock in for Sami on vault. I like Elena on bars. She seems to have better lines than I remember chase having.

Elena has cleaner hand stands and toe point then Brock. The issue with her is her pak salto is extremely wonky and isn’t super consistent with the DLO. Brock ironically has the opposite issues (toe point mostly) but she has solid transitions and a good dismount. I’m assuming we see Aleah on bars again this weekend. Despite the the bad meet it was a big positive to get that routine out there.

Yes, Aleah was great - I think we see her before Elena, potentially, but if both Kai and Alyona are out, then we are in a bit of a pickle
