Is Bob Moore retiring or something? There are talks of this on Twitter and our favorite College Gym FB page. Man I hope not! We NEED him!

Yes he’s retiring. Going to miss him so much.

Thought he might come back for 1 more year but he truly was one of the best in the business

Ugh she is the worst. Best Twitter block ever

I thought it was extremely fitting for Bob to end his wonderful career coaching Haleigh to a national title on vault!

He honestly probably had another 2 in the bag between her and Kiya the next couple years but I get it. He’s been at this for a long time. His next replacement will be interesting
Quite honestly the next couple years will have the best vaulting group LSU has ever assembled talent wise.

Man it saddens me that Bob is retiring. But I completely understand. Just sucks because he was clearly the best coach of the team last year. Gonna miss him so much.

Sad to hear Bob is retiring. He has been a huge part of the team's success in recent years: vault has always been a massive strength. I don't think we will suffer too much in the next few years as the girls currently in and coming in are already well developed on vault.
Hopefully we use this chance to bring in some good coaching talent. I'm excited to see who they choose to bring in. It may be better if Gnat can maybe work more on floor and vault and we could get someone experienced to help on beam and bars.

I don’t think anyone is gonna touch bars but Jay. That’s been the event he has coached his entire career. I don’t know how capable Gnat is coaching vault although she was a outstanding vaulter herself her entire career. It will be interesting to see the route they go here. They hired Gnat to coach beam after studying by DDs side for a couple years and coaching beam for a year at PSU. How often or common has a coach moved events they coached? Gnat is still extremely green and new to the coaching world so maybe that changes things

Jay needs to hit a home run with this hire. We have so much talent, with more coming in. Can’t afford to screw this up.

Just got the email regarding Bob’s retirement. Does anymore know if he’s accepting gifts of any type? Just want to show my appreciation for all he’s done for the program.

Maybe move Gnat over to vault and bring in someone on the more technical side to handle beam development and routine construction
Beam is a difficult event to coach/manage so maybe someone more seasoned would be a better option to handle that.
I know Jay can’t be pleased with returning essentially the entire beam lineup last year and we seemed to go the other direction

Is ACK coming back as a volunteer coach? And does she do much coaching, outside of choreographing the routines? I know she is a working mom, so her time is limited! Who was doing the day to day floor coaching?
I think Gnat would be a better floor coach than beam or even vault. But can we hire 2 new coaches? Jay just needs to get the best available. With the talent we have and what we have coming in, now is our time. We can’t afford to lose this opportunity. Recruiting is only going to get harder, with the increasing parity in the SEC and across the country.

I understand that the whole coaching staff helps out on floor and ACK cheorographs, but I might be wrong.
I agree, D1 gymnastics is getting really competitive. We have good talent coming in, but there's no less talent coming in elsewhere.

I don't think LSU needs someone to coach floor, all the coaches typically over lap to help out with that.
The technical/composition aspects of bars and beam are the most pressing issues that need to be addressed.
So you could move Gnat over to vault and try to find a more seasoned coach with a history of developing beam, or you could hire another vault coach. I think we all know what we need but it will be interesting to see what Jay does.

Could you all see Hambrick coming back as a coach? She has been coaching at Georgia Elite since she graduated. If this were to happen, I’d rather her coach beam and Gnat coach vault.
Posted on 5/26/21 at 10:40 am to tlricks04
They really need to add someone with experience
Posted on 5/26/21 at 3:39 pm to Tigerbait357
I think Hambrick would have been a better choice than Gnat, but that’s just my personal feeling. I don’t think 2 very young coaches on staff is a good idea, but also just my personal feelings!

Out of curiosity, what is your reasoning for Hambrick over Gnat?
I don’t like the idea though of having two very young and new to the coaching world on staff. It’s one thing to hire a younger coach but at least show you have experience and know what you are doing.

I don’t really have a good reason TB
I really liked both equally as gymnasts, but Hambrick just seems a little more business first. I definitely agree that Jay needs a more experienced hire to replace Bob though.
