Crossing my fingers.. that final HS looks so good. The dismount is a bit low though. She is only getting it around as she's a relatively shorter gymnast.

Yes, let's hope to see Arenas on Friday as time is growing short for her to gain some experience in the bar lineup before the post season is on us.

Or at least let her exhibition since the meet is on SEC+! I feel once we get to Nationals, the judges are gonna hammer Dunne and Alyona on those dismounts.

That one was a little low but what I do like is Elena is keeping her body in a laid out position, she isn't piking or having soft knees which is good. Judges aren't gonna hit her for any form on the dismount. I think it comes down to how consistent her Ray is in practice. I feel like she honestly has some of the best handstands and straight body lines on the team on bars. Even you can see her elite polish at 101 with her handstands and toe point. If it all comes together, that would be another strong routine we can count on.

I'm not saying throw her into the bars lineup vs Alabama but at the minimum, I think you need to exhibition that routine. If she fails, she fails. She has to get experience one way or the other in order to get better. This would be a starting point. If she has a highly successful bars routine, then you can throw her into live competition the following week and try to build towards SEC's. There is still time but we only have 3 regular season meets left and a bye week to polish everything up before SEC Championships.

I'm curious if we rest Campbell this week, given Arenas another shot on floor and give Dunne or Alyona that spot on beam.

I know she's been hurt, but Campbell has just been consistent for that anchor spot on beam this year - in order to compete that routine needs to be auto 9.95, at minimum. It isn't (or hasn't been, due to a moderate check on her series nearly every time - I guess probably due to the hip flexor) - that being said, not sure who could reliably fill that role, if not her, so maybe the plan just give her as much rest as possible until SECs and then try to get 5 post season routines out of her?

I think either Alyona or Elena may go in Friday for Reagan. Jay said on the Inside LSU Sports broadcast that we’ll see some lineup changes. The only “medicine” for a hurt hip flexor is rest.

This is not to say that Jay will make a lot of lineup changes. Alabama is a really good team. Heck they even beat LSU last year. They have the capability to put up six 10.0 sv vaults. So I don’t think he can play with the lineups too much. But I think Reagan needs the rest.

How huge (or realistic) would it be to get Kai back on bars before season’s end? Just saw her Instagram story.

I don't see anything but bars would be the only thing she realistically could do to end the year.

Do the same routine as Kiya, focus on handstands and clean dismount. Realistically we just need the 2nd spot to be at a 9.85 level at least.

Side note, I saw another angle of Alyona's bars, it looked much better at that angle than it did live, especially her double layout...

Camera angles really can make a huge difference in how a routine looks.

I agree - I saw another angle as well, and I was pretty impressed. Also, I think another thing that may hurt her is the support she wears on her feet can give the impression that she is not pointing her toes, even when she may be. I think the judges have a better view of those things than we do, even with the SEC network's fine camera angles, lol.

Alyona's first layout was actually laid out, in the position its suppose to be. The next thing she needs to do is keep in the layout position in the second somersault. She pikes dow right before the landing.

This is where the deduction comes in. They could realistically take up to a .10 deduction but most generally probably take .05 for just form on a singe skill.

What did Kai's Instagram Story say?

She did a toe on on the low bar into a Maloney, but had a mat under the high bar to catch her. But her handstand looked actually really good. I pray she's somehow able to be back on bars by the end of season.

I don't see anything on her Instagram unless you are talking about another Instagram account

Her name is kaihrivers on Instagram. For some reason I cannot link anything from time to time. You may only follow her older page but she’s had this other page for a while.

Yes that’s the one. Click on her profile photo at the very top left. There should be a red circle around it.

I just redownloaded the app and now its showing Instagram was trying to make me seem crazy.

She looks great, but she was doing great this fall before the small set back so not surprised to see her killing it. If her or Arenas can step in by post season, I will feel more secure about our bars lineup.

I would also like to see Dunne take that bars routine to the next level (more consistency on the pak combo) by polishing up that last handstands and the DLO.
