The scores at the Florida meet were crazy high! Beam and floor scores were completely out of control! Trinity got a 10 from one judge and she was clearly OOB. It’s hard for me to watch OU and Florida meets because the scoring infuriates me. I also don’t think Maddie’s Karr’s vault was a 10. She kinda did the college salute. I also feel Arkansas got a few gifts but their technique has improved so much.

Watch Trinity’s beam closely. She has a wobble getting up from her low work on beam. Leg come completely up and off the beam. She even cracks a smile because she knows what a silly error it was. Still got a 10.
That being said. Look how smart her routine construction is. She does a switch split into a split leap (?). I think she used to do the switch half but has taken it out, and she hits her splits! She does a simple beat jump out of her front aerial into a back handspring swing down. Safe skills that get nice bonus all connected. This is the smart routine construction that LSU sorely lacks on beam and floor.

Bingo, why do you think OU is so consistent and executes well? Smart routine construction on easier skills that they master. I like doing difficulty but if they don't hit it most the time, it sorta defeats the purpose right? Desiderio never hits the split on her difficult leap combo, so why not give her a leap series she can hit?
I hate that LSU tries to make half the beam lineup do the switch leap to the switch half. That is a crazy leap series to hit, and at full split with rotation. Campbell will hit the split position, but half the time she lacks the full rotation on that leap.

So... turns out Durante got in that vault lineup!!!

I hope they continue to make use of the exhibitions today!

What in the WORLD is going on with Harrold's vault - we can LITERALLY not afford for her to be going sub 9.7 when we are missing half of our vault lineup at the other half are freshmen

The video at OSU is concentrating on the OSU team and not showing much of the routines for ASU or LSU. They show the replays of OSU team instead of switching to the other two teams. Also, the scoring is harsh.....not a fan of going to the Pacific west meets.

Kiya got low balled on all of her routines. And hopefully when Edney and Edwards are back healthy for vault, Rau is taken out. I’d take Durante over Rau the way Durante vaulted today.

not only that - these Pac-12 judges are going to give it to OSU on floor. One judge going 9.9 for that first floor routine is BONKERS

Kiya stuck her vault and it should have been no lower than a 9.95. I have seen a lot of bias in this judging which was in OSU's favor. It appears that Sami was penalized on vault for fighting for her stick.

Well at least they won ...what's really concerning is that at this point, if we don't get some away 197s soon, it may even be difficult to get into the SEC night session, not to mention its effect on any other post-season rankings
I know vault is really vault - but they are leaving tenths everywhere on beam and floor. Its very surprising that our highest rotation score was bars today (though some of that could be end of meet scoring)

Not the 197+ score we wanted but with the lineups we are using this isn’t bad. Should have been a 197 but vault keeps letting us down. I don’t mean to put everything on Ruby but she should be going 9.85 or higher every meet. She has way too much experience to make these mistakes. She stuck her vault cold for a 9.95 and has been missing since. I know she will come around but maybe the pressure of suddenly being expected to bring in 9.9 for us every time is getting to her. She never really HAD to hit before because we always had a lineup of great vaults surrounding her.

Does anyone know if Kiya did the double or if she did a full? On the broadcast I heard them say that she did a full, but I didn't see it - they weren't the most knowledgeable commentators, so checking to see if anyone saw it/knew why she switched to a full (if she did), since the double hasn't seemed too hard for her

Kiya was robbed on several events that would have pushed us up to a 197. As I said earlier the judging was harsh on LSU. We are in a hole for sure with (4) 196 scores and a 195. As TB 357 has said, our beam routines need easier leaps. They go to Gym Quarters next week which is a meet that you need to be on your A game. We won it last year with a low 197. Our only 197 that is on the road will be dropped as our highest score if we don't get more soon to count toward the RQS.

Kiya’s Vault! Looks to be just a full! LINK

I’m really proud of the freshman on bars today, especially Alyona. Her routine should have been a 9.925-9.95. Kai and Kiya both went 9.90. Sami has to get her dismount in order. Bars should be fine once Edney is back.
Now vault and floor are another story. The ideal lineup is Edney, Johnson, Harrold, Rivers, Edwards, and maybe now Durante over Rau. We can’t take Rau’s vault to Regionals as is, let alone if they make it to Nationals. And floor, maybe Desiderio can get back in the lineup. And Edwards. Dean and Gunter are two I would not want to use in postseason. I’m almost wishing they’d give Campbell a two pass floor routine and let her make it up with bonus.

Do we know why the leaps have gotten worse this year? Really no one is hitting 180 consistently.
Posted on 2/8/20 at 11:19 pm to tlricks04
I think Alyona's bars scoring was fair. Her first handstand is noticeably short, her second after the release moves was also muscled. IMO this is about the best she can do this routine, which suggests she shouldn't be doing it at all. The difficulty doesn't look comfortable for her, I thought she was going to come off on the Pak. And this is WITH a stuck dismount. Why can't she do some kind of routine like Edney's/Kiya's? Big release, bail, dismount. It worked to make Finnegan a national bars champ. This composition is unnecessary.
I thought Rau looked pretty good today. She has been improving, to her credit. Durante's issue is she has a pretty noticeable pike in the second phase of her vault, though good effort with the landing. Agreed with Campbell on the two pass floor - she has good dance elements and should be able to make up enough bonus with those.
