I don’t think Desederio should compete on three events. I think she should really focus on beam and floor. Her floor was a bit inconsistent last year. Campbell is a better bar worker than Desederio (IMO). Campbell has better lines. Of course we haven’t seen a bar routine from either in years...so I’m speaking on what I saw over three years ago.

I still hoping that Caitlin Smith can get her bars routine back to it was years ago. She used to be a really solid bar worker...so her routine could be huge for this lineup.

As far as routine construction, I sure hope they take out some difficulty on beam. Some of the routines have built in deductions already due to leaps. They should take a page out of Oklahoma’s book when it comes to beam.

Also, I think this team will indeed surprise a lot of people. I’ve been reading posts where people have LSU ranked as low as 6th. And it’s crazy that Florida is ranked ahead of LSU with only 1 incoming freshman and losing Boren. Now they do get Foberg back, but I don’t see them making a push for the title.

Any updates on Bailey Ferrer? There hasn't been much talk here about her and how she's looking or any potential lineups. Crazy to think that this time last year there was so much anticipation about her making it to LSU and bringing multiple lineup ready routines, and that just didn't really happen

I know she has worked hard on her fitness in the off season and had a small clean up procedure. Guess we'll see once training gets further along

I think Christina was inconsistent because of weight. And this is definitely not a dig at her but I imagine she gained some of the dreaded “freshman 15” and that affected her stamina. Like I said not a dig because she is one of my favs on this team!

Not a dig on Desiderio?? Almost every time someone mentions her name there is a "depending on the shape she is in" comment. Someone went so far as to call her "fuller". The problem is not with stamina and it's a shame that she has to be constantly body shamed. She did have shoulder surgery after the season, I'm sure that had something to do with inconsistencies. Sorry, but I've been watching this go on for a while now, and I don't like it. She went through enough in her elite days.

I don’t think she’s full. I think she’s fine but it would seem even if she put on any weight in this sport it would take time to adjust to ala Kyla Ross. It doesn’t hurt she is a shorter girl so she carries her weight different. I didn’t even know who she was in elite. I love her and her gymnastics.

Looks like Aleah is only doing beam at Worlds Selection Camp according to the start list. I know that takes her out of the running for a Worlds team spot, but I know she’ll come back stronger than ever next year.

That’s sad. With Riley and Shilese both out and now Aleah it sure does make their decision a lot easier.

So proud of Aleah the way she competed beam. With all that she’s been through the past few months, my heart goes out to her. I lost my Dad in 2015...so I can imagine how she feels.

Im not shocked with what happened with Riley. Coach Haney is a bitch that overworks her athletes, she is likely going to cost Riley a shot at the olympics.

I'm not even going to get into it on the Desiderio situation. All I am going to say is she is currently not in condition to be doing the current floor routine. They need to water down the second pass. What is the point of that middle pass if she has her chest low every time? Its a built in deduction. She has enough difficulty as is with the double layout. That goes back to constructing routines smartly.

Also Aleah did a really good job today. Girl has been through hell the last month with her dad and all. Looking forward to those major upgrades for the olympic year.

Were you all surprised by Trinity’s last place finish at selection camp (Aleah didn’t do AA)? I thought she’d be much more prepared than she was. I thought it wasn’t a good look for the Florida coaches. Makes you wonder how they have managed her training.

Not really. She didn’t look great at nationals to me either. She’s a great gymnast but she seemed to gas easily on that floor routine. I’m not sure if she ever really thought she had a chance. Maybe she is doing it for fun and experience.

Looks like Chase Brock has verbally committed to LSU. She is a solid AA gymnast. She has dabbled in Elite but chose to finish as a Level 10. She was previously committed to Bama.

Vault

Bars

Beam

Floor

Good pickup for LSU.

She was big time at the camps!

Great pick up for us

I like how LSU is now going the UCLA route with the two million walk ons, and these kids are quality

OU had a lot of interest in her as well

hopefully some girls will start going to other schools since the big 3 (ok,ucla, fla) seemed to be stacked with elites the next few years. I for one would like to see some other teams in nationals. It was fun watching Denver this past year. But let's not include Ga and Utah in these teams!

Is going to be fricking stacked the next 5 years. The talent that is coming in now and over the next two years is insane.

That said you don’t need a bunch of elites to win a national title, OU has illustrated that. A nice balance of elites and top level 10 kids is fine.

What has kept them so slighltly ahead of LSU which seems to be a very similar program talent wise? Is it they do more watered down routines but incredibly consistent and well while LSU goes for more of the big splash?

Is there some kind of inherent bias toward Oklahoma or against LSU by he judges?

Has it just not been their time yet? D D has not seemed to get the same sentimental love that Ms. Val got? Is this her year?

LSU and OU are very similar programs in many ways but the biggest differences is the routine construction across all events. OU has mastered maximizing their scorers for all their athletes. The routines are clean and don’t include skills that their kids can’t handle.

Meanwhile at LSU, we are forcing kids to do difficult leap series when they never hit the full split on them. I would like LSU to be smarter about what we put into these routines. It’s like we force a square peg into a circular hole at time.

Not that LSU isn’t a well coached team, they are. Just the biggest difference really between both program, as well as the mental state OU seems to compete with week in and week out.

There is bias in scoring but that is an entirely different discussion. Which brings up another major issue with NCAA gym

OU does seem to be consistent and bring their A game when needed such as 2017 when LAU blew it out on Friday night.

Their floor seems bread and butter but always clean while LAU brings the sash and dash but dont get credited for difficulty.

Hope they can find the right balance soon.
