Does anyone think there's really a chance that McKenna is coming back, or even seriously considering it? I hate to get my hopes up. She posted some things on Instagram yesterday, things that sure sound like "good-byes" to her teammates.
I will be honest
From speaking with her, it doesn't sound like she really wants to go through with a 5th year. She loves LSU and gymnastics. That said, the work you have to put in during an offseason and throughout the fall is a lot and it doesn't seem like she wants to go through with all that again for an additional year.
I do think she feels bad about not contributing anything to the program on the floor for a complete year which is why she is considering coming back.
Coaches though are planning next year like she isn't coming back so that way we will be better prepared regardless. If she comes back, that would be a gigantic help on vault and floor. If she doesn't we move on, it puts a lot more pressure on Ferrer, Rivers, and Johnson to step up immediately.
That said, Edney and Ruby will need to step up next offseason and the sophomore class better continue to improve. Ferrer in particular needs to have a good offseason, not having her ready on the power events is hurting a bit to be honest. They were really counting on her to be in those lineups this season but she didn't come into LSU prepared.

McKenna's latest quotes on Insta-story indicate that she's not coming back but doesn't want to disappoint others. At least that's what I read into it. I hate that she is burdened with the decision. She's been such a team player, even when she was out for the year.

We took Emma because she is good and has offers from OU, UCLA, Michigan, Florida, and basically any other d1 school with a gym program

That’s a hell of a source

Word on the street is she hasn't trained and looks horrible. I hope that is wrong. I didn't realize she had offers from so many schools, being invited to visit and such is not the same as getting an offer. You sound like a friend so I get you want to defend her but I also have to take what you say with a grain of salt.

Well put BigB0882.
Everyone wants the best for Emma and for LSU. Just seems like things have changed a lot for her in terms of priorities since she left Texas Dreams.

Maybe I am being a bit harsh but let's be honest, we took Emma because we wanted her sister
But Emma was 10 when McKenna committed to LSU.

Yeah. She wasn't recruited because LSU wanted McKenna. Emma was recruited because she was talented and at the time had a ton of skills and was very close to elite. Since then things haven't gone according to plan, a lot of changes, injuries and the bouncing back and forth between Dallas and Houston hasn't helped. I saw her compete twice this season and reports that she didn't look great and out of shape aren't wrong. She has another season before getting to LSU though so hopefully she gets back on track.

LSU took Emma not because of McKenna, but because she was always a very talented kid and had tremendous upside with high level skills on vault and floor. She did have some very solid offers, not sure about the offers the other posters put up. She was invited to a lot of places for visits and camps, not everyone offered though. I will say it is a plus that Mary Lou and her family donated nice amounts of money to the program.
The issue is she dealt with some injuries in 2016/2017 while she was aiming to go the elite route, which took her out. She moved away from Texas dreams back to stars gymnastics in Houston, and she is now not consistently training which is why her performances have been poor lately. I will admit she doesn't seem committed as her sister though to this sport.
But she is almost following the Caitlin Smith route now. A kid who showed a ridiculous upside at a younger age, only to progress backwards at the end of her JO career due to lack of training/commitment. She won't be any use for LSU unless she gets back into shape and trains consistently again. She signs with LSU this coming November. Hope she gets it together, LSU can't continue to deal with kids who come to LSU completely injured/not training.
Not trying to knock on anyone here but its the truth. To be successful in this sport, you have to be committed to your training. If not, your routines will dramatically suffer.
Emma has a youtube channel. She actually use to post routines and skills she worked on. Go look back at what she use to train and compete, she clearly has the ability.

Any word on Campbell? I have been waiting to hear something, anything. I can only assume that she was hurt at this point. But was it something that will keep her off of beam this weekend? The rest of the season?

I would love to know as well. I hope she's okay!
