according to co-head coach Liz Crandall Howell, who’s not here due to illness, Cal won the Purple and Gold Classic with a 197.7! (Will confirm shortly.

This was a great on the road score for LSU!!

I don't see them doing a quad meet there again given how chaotic it was and they couldn't stream it. Prices were a bit much for many families just from the sound of it. I'd rather them hold it in the PMAC or go to another one of those bigger quad meets earlier in the year on the podium.

But I get why they did this, they needed another opportunity for a road score plus its a podium

Ok. I was going to say - I was at the meet and clocked us around 197.6. Did anyone at the meet (or otherwise on Twitter), etc. see if Cal’s floor rotation was really 49.7 level good? I had to focus all my energy on the beam.

Honest thoughts - vault is very good. Bars still a bit of a question mark on dismounts and unfortunately Alyona is, more often than not, our drop score. I know Jay doesn’t want to make that change and it may not make sense to do it this year with the injuries, but your drop score next to the anchor is going to hinder your overall score. Beam I am proud of the fight and the consistency this team is giving - hate to harp on alyona, but there again, she has a lot of
Wobbles that appear consistently in the routine (most notably on her side aerial right before the dismount, nearly every single time). Super proud of that routine for Bryce - I think she has proven that’s she’s back. Floor - I think they need to look king and hard in the pdf season in two pass routines. And Haleigh’s last pass has been killing her all season - it’s taking awa a tenth nearly every time.

Finally, great fight to them tonight especially with Aleah sick and then Kai injuring herself. They kept their composure and their cool and got a good counting road score in difficult circumstances.

I will say - if they do it there again, they need to actually plan to
Start at 6:30 or later because it was a nightmare getting their fix (which is, I assume, at least a reason they postponed it). Not the best venue, for sure, but hard to deny the value of the ability to get a road score 5 miles from
Home.

Curious on other’s thoughts

It would have probably been safer to let Jeff do her full, but I think Jay was going for the 10 start value. Overall I won't complain about 49.55 or Vault

I wish the coaches would tinker with the order of the lineups. Move chase and Aleah back in vault. Move Tori or Olivia to leadoff and move Jeffrey 4th and Aleah 5th. I actually think you should replace alonya with Ashley but that’s neither here nor there this season. Beam you need to rotate between Bryce and sierra. Whose warming up better. Floor I would leadoff with Elena. Alexis is not a floor option. Move chase back to 4th. We are past the point of just subbing in spots now. Kai won’t be back this season if I had to guess. Kj is iffy and if she comes back just put her in 2nd or 3rd in vault and 3 or 4 in floor.

Jeffrey had another outstanding beam set (was underscored). Not quite ready yet for floor it seems but the potential is there.

Glad to see Bryce hit both her routines tonight. At this point in her development, she just needs experience and confidence
