Recruits that chase the money ...

... seem to me to bust at a very higher rate. More pressure on the kid. More pressure on the coach to pay that kid early. Maybe less of a commitment. Maybe less focus - it's hard for a 19-year -old who's a multi-millionaire to stay focused on getting better ....
I think I'd rather guys that come to LSU because they want to play for LSU or because they like LSU's position coach at their position, or any other reason than money.
I don't have data to back this up, but I suspect that this class will end up far better than some of the classes that were "bought" by NIL.
Just my thought ....

I mean picking a school only because they pay is probably isn’t the best idea.

I would really like to see a list of some these HS kids who signed these massive NIL deals and see how they’ve performed compare to the dollars spent. Me thinks the return investment isn’t great.

All of these schools are the cream of the crop that put tons of players in the NFL. You can’t say a kid is making the wrong move because he goes to an elite program that also offered him more money. If these kids were taking money to go to Illinois or Rutgers that would be a different story.

Don’t disagree, but I have a hard time seeing Underwood be a bust.
I can see Meadows being a bust.

I would say less pressure on the kid. Underwood doesn’t even have to make the NFL. He’s rich now

This is pretty much what BK has been saying. At least the part about wanting kids that want to play for LSU.
You have to question someone like Bryce Underwood, given what we know, and how much he really wants to play for Michigan.
That's not to say he will be a bust.

Some of them sure.
Not all of them.

What school that got an elite guy solely from NIL doesn’t? Look at the top 10 classes they are all top programs.

It's all mentality. You want to give me 10 million over 4 years? That's cool. You want to give me 8 million over 4 years with a better chance to make 100 million over the 10 following the first 4?
Give me the second option.
Give me the second option.

There's really no telling which players will work out and live up to the investment or which ones won't. It's a crapshoot.

When is the last time Oregon was a top 2 class before NIL?

Stewart is the one that I worry about. 17 yr old moving to LA to a program in a city with no morals/values that does not prioritize his position. I could be wrong but I thought I saw here he was an excellent student. He will also get a lot of publicity and attention if he plays well or poorly for that matter.

You are already dead wrong because Oregon has never had top classes until NIL started. And mainly this year

I never said anything about how many top classes Oregon had. I said they were a top 10 program. Point is that none of these kids are making an objectively wrong decision choosing a top school. All of the schools flipping 5 star guys with NIL are top programs.

All the teams with top classes are putting guys in the pros. Some of you have this idea as if LSU is one of the only ones doing it and if recruits don’t come to LSU they are somehow making a horrible decision based on money.
Take a look at the guys in the NFL per capita and which states lead. Louisiana has a lot based on the state not because they went to LSU.

All underwood will be asked to do is hand the ball off a bunch and not suck when he is asked to throw the ball occasionally. He’s got it made.
