Ok...so we are all in complete agreement that the board needs to be regulated.
I will contact Chicken and see what we can have done. I don't know what potential "powers" lay in his hand to control the website interface, but if a member can be made an Admin for ONLY this board, then I think it would take a large step in the right direction.
Two or so Recruiting Board Admins...people that have proven to be knowledgeable and reasonable on the topic.
I'll do my best to have it addressed.
I will also be starting up the "Recruiting Board Project" over the course of the next month. I think we will focus on the 2011 class since 2010 is so close to being over. The project was really a bit of a fail this year because LSU filled up its class almost entirely before 2010 had really even begun.

But this board used to be a welcome break from the more overtly trollish posts and threads.
i agree, i dont remember the last time i actually read something from the Rant. since the Ole Piss game; it is the same threads over and over again. At least here you can actually talk to reasonably intelligent people about football

I feel the same way.

not sure what is wanted by some of you. The LSU fanbase lost confidence in the staff late this season, its reflected in all of its boards.
Combining or eliminating redundant threads...i can see but if you just want a few people, who decide what can and should be tolerated this board will die.

I think the problem arises when certain individuals pile into this board to trash the coaches and/or players. This scenario is made worse when the majority of these posts offer nothing but random and brief rants with nothing of real substance. Those kinds of posts are for the Rant; this board is not the venue for airing your grievances over Crowton's playcalling or Studrawa's coaching.
Now, I feel that certain criticisms should and are being discussed on this board if it pertains to recruiting. For example, if you believe a certain recruit should have an offer or a player's recruitment was mishandled in your eyes then there is a way to express that thought in a rational manner. But the quick posts like "why would they ever come here when we don't throw the ball...when we don't play freshman" is not only devoid of substance but annoying. Go fart in the wind somewhere else.
I also don't like comments like "I guess you know more than the coaches" or "I trust the coaches". Those types of views are of zombie-like quality. If no discussion or criticism (constructive) is to be done then why do we even have a board at all? But I agree this is not the place to drop a rant. Discussion and relevant criticism is productive and necessary; trashing and ridiculing is something else and not welcome.

Recruiting Board....
has turned into the Rant/garbage.
I've RA'ed a couple times, but it's gotten to the point where there's no use.
Seriously, if I wanted to read, "they're going to suck because Crowton/Miles are the coaches" in every thread, I'd go to the Rant. 98% of each thread that is started on that board lately, there's ALWAYS someone complaining about the coaches and LSU never having a chance at winning another game again as long as the game of football is being played at LSU.
I come here to keep tabs on incoming recruits and try to dish out information as well but having to filter through all the bullshite, it's getting to the point of not being worth even checking.
Let me have it. I know what's coming. "So you started a thread whining about whining!" "You're a Miles lover!" "Rantard!" "Coaches deserve criticism." " " That's pretty predictable.
All of that is for the Rant. This board was created for a reason and it's loooong drifted away from what it was originally created.
If you guys want to move this to the Help board, go ahead. I was going to start it there in the first place, but I figured more people would see it here.
Go on wit' da chlorophyll. (and I'm sure the mucho replies trying to be smartass or cute.)
Great post!

Which do you think it is? Because we clearly have lost 8 games in 2 years so all is not well somewhere.
It's playing with inexperienced first yr QBs How did your team do with first yr QBs?
What SEC teams are winning with first yr QBs?
How about Michigan and USC?
Check their recruiting rankings Max.Guess Carroll and RR can't coach.
I'm sure your buddy,SFP with his 161 IQ, will help you.

If you have a problem with the LSU program, tell the Rant readers about it but don't bring it here.
This is not the place to vent. No one here wants your opinion about the state of the program.
We welocme your insights on current or future recruits.

I think this is as succinct a definition of what I think the Recruiting Board was meant to be and most of us would like it to be.

When Miles kicked RP off the team I gave Miles a 2 year pass. Knowing that for 2008 with 2 Freshman QBs we were going no place, and in 2009 with 2 Soph QBs we would lose 3-4 games. You need experienced QBs that are JRs and SRs to win. The speed of the game is just too fast for a FR or Soph QB to pick up. Plus we had to burn JJ's red shirt year which he needed. The next 2 years LSU football should be back.

I find it funny the same people hwo constantly bash les miles for caoching are the ones who say we have lost edge in recruiting. Lke our classes have not panned out since he has been here, or that we are losing instate kids. If you go by this logic then our teams really havent been that talented, yet we are still winning 9-10 games a year. So which is it? Either recruiting is awesome and we have the talent and should be losing 1 game a year at most, or we dont have the talent and Les is actually winning 10 games a season with not so great talent.
I think this could both be an issue. It is possible to have great recruiting classes ranking wise but have terrible recruiting classes on a needs bases. Rivals, Espn, Scout and other services don't really take the needs of each particular program into account when ranking teams recruiting prowess. A team could rank extremely high in recruiting but be a complete crap fest when recruiting specific needs. I think some of this has been seen at DE this year and at guard. Throw in the loss of Perilloux, and you see where not recruiting consistently killed LSU at the QB spot. Also, five star high school recruits still have to be coached up. Players still have to be assimilated into a scheme and taught what is expected of them. They need to be discplined, learn the finer details of the game (ala clock management), proper stength and conditioning and so on. At no point should recruiting and coaching be looked at as seperate and individualistic in the process. The entire thing is fluid and takes balance in both to maintain a great football program. Recruiting and coaching is not an inverting formula but the sum of both parts (and some).
Therefore, when people generally use comments such as...
