How is it looking for us with Williams? Some say he wants to go out of state

There's NO WAY the staff would turn any of those guys down. Believe me, if Willis, Robinson, Gilmore, Beckwith, and Williams all want in to take us to 26, the staff would most definitely make that happen. There WILL BE a grey shirt if needed, and that's not even counting the kids that aren't going to qualify, which there's always a couple of those.

Hope to hear of his commitment soon. Love this kid

Which ones specifically are candidates to be grade casualties? Or are you just talking?

Nothing really new here. It'll be a battle between us and Bama for him for sure. I think he likes the idea of playing in our 4-3 at DE though, especially if one or both Mingo/Montgomery declare after this year, that means some immediate playing time for him as a true freshman.
We do have a leg up in Bama on a couple things at least that really stand out - the kid goes to U High which besides being right on LSU's campus we've offered a number of U-High guys down the road (for 2014, 2015 and 2017)...so he'll know he'll probably play with former high school teammates. On top of that, he has a kid who's around 2 IIRC, so it would be way easier for him to stay in Baton Rouge as far as family/his kid are concerned over going all the way out to Bama.

Not to mention he really cares about the child, so distance away from it would be a factor for him, which I highly respect from a kid of his stature

This is why I hate recruiting sites and their rankings. Robinson has elite size and speed for a CB, but hes just young, raw, and skinny so they dont think hes ready to play right now so they have him rated very low. You add 15 pounds on the kid, and hes a top CB in the nation. Sites dont take into account of what they could be, they just look at the now and I hate it. This kid actually reminds me alot of Claiborne, just taller. Small recruit that was only being courted by a few major programs, LSU was there from the beginning, but when we see him in a college uniform the kids gonna be a player. Hes been 1 of my favorite recruits this year and seems to have a great head and wont do something stupid. If he commits, imagine him a year or 2 down the road after hes been with Moffit. Scary.

I can see that happening, or just a guy decommits such as Logan Stokes (but I think if he decommits it's to replace him with a guy such as Deondre Skinner). Not so sure what greyshirt candidates we have in this class...maybe Swanson the FB (Since we still have Copeland for 2013?) or possibly some in-state guy.

Not always a couple. We only had 1 fail to qualify this last class in Liggins, not counting John Thomas who never signed a LOI. Only Alonzo Lewis didn't make it in for the 2011 class. Only Zach Lee didn't make it in for 2010 and that was due to MLB, not grades...if we're not counting the Elliott Porter situation that year.

IMO if Robinson, Willis, Beckwith, Gilmore, and Williams all commit, we take everyone of them. We would be stupid letting 1 of those guys leave and go play for another top tier team if we had the chance to take him. Im not saying its right, but if we have walk ons that have earned scholarships we would have to take them off scholarship. Its not right, but when its your job to win games and recruit the best players in the nation, you gotta do it.

I think that is the final 5 we bring in for this year, and a Skinner/Stokes swap

It's not a matter of the 85, it's a matter of the 25. We can only bring in 25...if all 4 commit we're at 26. So a current commit would have to go or greyshirt.
Posted on 7/31/12 at 2:44 pm to thunderbird1100
so 1 casualty per year and if history repeats itself we should be right at 25 on signing day

After this guy commits the rest will just fall into place for us, I think no matter what we make room for Gilmore, Willis, Williams, Beckwith

could be 4 of the top 10 in this class so they are all a definite take imo

I gotcha. Got the # confused
So the numbers are 25 per year, 85 for 3 years?
