I am disappoint, Buga.

I can't speak for other papers/sites, but I can speak for myself.
I've tried to take a different approach with some of my coverage. The regimented, often scripted responses you receive during interviews doesn't strike me as riveting reads. What she had to say was certainly quality stuff, but it was blasted everywhere by everyone, which reduces the impact.
I've learned that the best info comes in private, without the recorder on. I have a longstanding working relationship/friendship with his trainer, who keeps me in the loop. I've spoken with Gary as well. But as soon as they see me as a "media" guy, I will start getting different responses.
I like utilizing sources on the ground and in the offices. It's a difficult balance, but one that is necessary for me because of the approach I take. I want the real scoop, not the quotes.

This is Buga's thread, though.

I'm listening, you can keep going

Nah man I'm good. I would like to start a Free Memphis movement, though. That's my dude.

Appreciate your answer Jimmy, and I understand it's all about relationships when it comes to recruiting and reporting on recruiting. Lots of stuff you know firsthand, you can't print because they have asked you not to; and you can't say that because you will be blasted for it.
That doesn't excuse the 3 big papers from not having someone contact Mrs. Gary and interview her; her son is the biggest recruit in the nation, she's a huge part of his decision making process and this visit was all about her. If she gives pat answers, so be it and if the pay sites ran stories, so what? I'm not trying to be a dick, but it's news. It's like saying we didn't print the story about the murder on 4th street because it was already reported by WWL. Ball got dropped by the big papers.
Rant over. Thanks for the reply. Hope like hell you are right about your predictions.

I should have said Gary's mom and you didn't correct me.

I rubbed so many people the wrong way when I first got on message boards, especially this one. I'd post a thread dropping hints, live in it when online and constantly defend myself when my tact or info was being dissected. Even today, there are posters here that won't let it go. I can't blame them, though, because I came across as an arse.
So simply put, don't look like an arse. Change your approach a little bit, and they will love you for it. Not trying to preach, just trying to help.
yeah, i've already tried to help this dude out, since i have a very similar story, Jimmy... i didn't help...
i get it... i know when i get inside info on a recruit, that no one else knows yet, you almost burst at the seams and race to the computer to make a thread on TD... but i got fed a lot of bad info, along with some good, and in the end, the 5 for 5 debacle made me, along with many others, look like an arse...
now, i don't say much here.... still have the same sources, so i'm still privy to the inside info, but i just don't share it here....

Can we change the name of this thread to LSU Recruiting Etiquette? 1 or 2 Pages about Rashan Gary and mother, 6 pages on the proper posting behavior when providing the Recruiting board with "inside information." Shits weak

That's what usually happens...I try to keep it on course but it ultimately fails because of my past posting style. I try to tone it down more and more but it's never good enough

Do you have some Gary updates. Could give a hot Crap about how you used to post. You got the goods and the rest is history. Do you man. Don't change for anybody.

FWIW we may not get along or see eye to eye, but you've definitely toned it down some and you have always had good info. Either way, olive branch...truce...whatever the shite. We're all Tiger fans.

Anyone know if Gary has any other visits (or has already done some) between LSU and his season start?
I'm thinking that the best thing we can have right now is that he and Mom go through his season and a couple of dead/NC periods with LSU being the most recent school on their mind. That's based on the visit going so well.

We got his last visit before his senior season IIRC.

If we have good QB play I don't see any team that can beat us
