LSU is bringing in Hunter Leppert from Minden, Dak Prescott from Haughton, Stevie Douglas- home schooled, and Zach Oliver- Catholic -- weekend of June 6th for a 2-3 day workout- they will offer one of these kids a scholarship at the end of the workouts..

not exactly thrilled that we can't bring in a high profile guy to offer a scholarship.

I'm not saying I don't think that the workouts aren't true. I don't see the LSU coaches having a QB Thunderdome or anything.

Yeah, I really doubt they said... "Well, I guess we should offer one of these 4 guys, so let's have a workout to decide it."

One of them may get an offer, but it's not gonna be because of one workout.

does this mean we are absolutely taking 2 QBs even if lee shows up?

They would if they were awesome and smart like OT'ers.

They've already offered high profile out of state guys. They need two in this class so it makes sense to evaluate the in state kids in camp, offer the one they think is the best, and try to wrap them up while waiting on the big names from out of state.

oliver is the only one with multiple offers. he has been offered by northwestern in chicago, tulsa, and arkansas state. i think he is probably the best, good arm and quiok release, staff isnt sure he has the foot speed though.
douglas has been offered by memphis, hard to judge his numbers since he plays home school competition
leppert is a pro-style guy, interest from TCU, SMU, a & m, and tech but no offers
prescott is more of an athlete

Lepperts father told me about the workout. Hunter is getting alot of looks from medium to large schools. He is coming to LSU workout straight from a workout at SMU.
It sounds like LSU has one more QB scholarship to give and want to give it to an in-state kid.. I guess the QB's are too close to call without seeing them together.

I can only speak about Leppert..but he has been seen by the coaches. Lepperts father did talk to Ensminger (sp) and he told him that one of the 4 would be offered..

I like Marquise Williams better than all of these guys, and he likes us, dont really know why we arent going harder after him.

Don't like it...
I'm not against "projects", and I'm not a star counter (see, Mo Claiborne), but this sounds like something altogether different

this is not an impressive offer list. in a year of great talent in La. and limited offers why would we do this.

QB is a need. What's not to like? Oliver is good.

Lee could be gone, and they need to plan for this by planning on taking two this year. I could even see them taking two if Lee comes onboard.

I think the term "mediocrity" might be overkill when describing Zack Oliver. The young man has a strong arm, seems like he has a good head on his shoulders, and is as pro-LSU as anyone being considered. He might not be "elite" at this early stage of life, but think how good he can be in four or five years. Besides, were Matt Mauk and Matt Flynn ever considered "elite" while at school? They both brought home Championships, though....
