Or maybe Jay Johnson could not guarantee him a certain spot because JJ has other fish on the line and a quality guy with Hurd he would have to beat out
It sounds like he waited until today to talk to Jay and then went another direction. Hopefully that means we have a guy or two waiting in the wings that he would have had to compete against

They had 31 in the portal at one point, but some have taken their name out. They had a coaching change in the fall and then the interim coach was passed over. They had pulled some decent talent, so like every coaching change there is a feeding frenzy on the roster.
