I wonder what happens when kids get processed. I understand them leaving aTm behind but what about when aTm leaves them behind?

Do they still get the $$$? I wonder how much, if any, garanteed cash in these deals.

no reason to think they don't start winning multiple NC's in the near future.

They are still A&M.

Look, they've been throwing around money for a long time. It's just more public now. Shoot, when SMU got the death penalty, A&M had their hands dirty giving Eric Dickerson a gold Trans Am. They have been using their booster money for decades. No reason to think that just because it's more "okay" now and they got a good class that they won't find a reason to be all A&M about it.

Interested to see how the booster dynamic changes over time when given so much ownership of the recruiting process. Human nature says that people will start wanting to have more say in things if they're putting up the money. This whole thing is going to get messier before it settles out, not just for A&M.

Every major program throws money around, but like I said earlier in this thread, it's not a coincidence that A&M signs the best class in 247 history the year after NIL is introduced.

and btw, that top class in 247 history is by a relatively healthy margin. It's not like they just edged out another class.

i think the only way to make this fair across the board is to cap each players amount they can get per year

Call me crazy but if people do not think that a full ride at a school like A&M (or any other) is enough for a student athlete, then I don’t know what to tell you!

Ok Crazy.

Any student on an academic scholarship was able to sign any deal they wanted with any company or be given any amount of money by any company that wanted to give them a job or money for their talents and expertise. Why should an athlete be any different?

That is the bottom line to what this was about.

Cult. The word you are looking for is cult. They give back to their cult like a Scientologist would. But gayer.

The obsession by the lsu fans regarding anything gay is mind blowing! Are you all closet homos or what?! Lol

Cult, that’s cute…..cry harder bud!

A job, sure!! I agree with you on that….like I stated above, the ncaa screwd up and created this mess by NOT allowing student athletes to work during school year

But a “job” could be just getting paid to have your face used on a brand for advertisement.

Yes, this is being abused. I don’t think the NCAA ever intended for these schools to be setting up “fake” businesses just to pay players. They should have seen it coming but they didn’t.

However, I don’t blame the players. I blame the institutions that are abusing the system.

It’s not really any different anymore except that it’s costing the schools more money to get these players and it’s all in the open now whereas before you didn’t know how much players were being paid.

Let’s be realistic about college sports. Every championship “won” in the past 50 years was purchased more than it was actually “won”.

If this is true then I will be interested how the "structured" contracts hold up to NIL law as the money cannot be tied to a condition of attendance and play at the respective university. So how are they getting around that point.

Jimbo had consistent top 5 classes at Florida State and still drove that program into the ground

Just sit back and watch the shite show in Aggieland as they dish out millions and underperform

Getting a bunch of 18 year old 5star recruits to sign contracts worth hundreds of thousands and putting them all in a locker room together.

Absolutely nothing could ever go wrong there.

I was reading this thread until Faggie uses “The refs cheated card”, obviously you missed your first SEC win over LSU 74-72, but came right back down to normalcy in the following year, with a Momental beat down. Let me guess Refs again

I think it’s kinda stupid/desperate to spend that kind of money just for bragging rights of a national championship like there is no return of investment

There is a HUGE ROI. Alabama can attest to that. Enrollment and everything goes up and the sky is the limit

I mean really. If you don’t cringe when ur male dancers are on the sidelines you better check what’s under ur sheets. It’s the most gay thing on TV.

Meh, the evidence is mixed at best. Applications usually go up in the short term, but not from the highly qualified applicants you want to admit.

Athletics was just one small part of a much broader and longer term strategic institutional improvement plan at Alabama.

Student-athletes have never been prohibited from working during the school year.

The interesting part is how these young men manage when Uncle Sam comes calling.
Lol you think they spent 30 million, had coordinated booster efforts with business across their state and the country and you think they just didn’t hire an accountant or contract a firm? Mmmm ok
