Mauler as a guard in the run game. He would help keep the northshore pipeline open.

He’s #1 on my interior OL wishlist

I agree
OG - Roberts and Rocco Spindler
OT - Dellinger plus any of the following : J.C. Latham; Tristan Leigh; Mims and there are a couple more I can not remember.

Yeah that would be phenomenal. Realistically it will be Dellinger, Roberts, and a couple lower tier guys. But hopefully land more big fish.

My OL recruiting preference is to recruit 3 OT and 1 interior OL every year.
Move the extra tackles (less mobile or whoever loses the tackle battle) to OG as needed.
Recruit 1 true OC every 2 years.

Add Featherlee to that list. Look like a mammoth

How? The guy is a junior in high school and looks like a human coke machine. Just unbelievable

Too light on numbers. Need more than 4 Oline signings every year. Too many don't pan out on the Oline.

Huge interior offensive line prospect with college-ready size. Flashes impressive point-of-attack strength. Thrives in the run game thanks to size and strength. Overwhelms smaller defenders at high school level. Shows encouraging block-finishing ability. Fairly quick when pulling or getting to the second level relative to size. Shows good straight-line athleticism on tape. Will need to improve overall agility and foot quickness. Physical ceiling likely limited because of size. Can improve hand placement, as well as pad level and leverage consistency. Gets too far out over his feet at times. Power 5-caliber interior offensive line prospect who can plow the row in the run game and possesses the size to give pass-rushers a large obstacle to navigate in pass pro.
Keep that North Shore pipeline rollin

North Shore is loaded with kids from Louisiana. Just like this kid, so is Demetrius Davis who just committed to Auburn, also Shadrack Banks who committed to A&M, Damien George (Ala '20).

I think we land
Owen Prentice
Jayden Roberts
Dellinger
Fatheree

That seems pretty realistic. Combined with the last 2 cycles of guys, we'd be in a good spot:
OT- Perry (?) Dumervil, Dellinger, Fatheree
iOL-Evans (converted from DL), Turner, Thomas, Bradford, Hill, Martinez, Roberts, Prentice

So you think Detillier and the Saints are wrong. Detillier indicates that the Pros are focusing on rushing up the middle and thus the interior OL are increasing in value at this time.
You don't need but 2 OT. Since they often redshirt, they are usually around for 4 years. You do not need more than 8 OT signed each 4 year cycle.
2 Tackles and 2 guards/centers each year will keep your team in great shape if you recruit the right guys. LSU has seldom had 15 guys on the OL. Usually at 13 or 14. Your OL line does not play depth on purpose ( outside of blowouts ). I remember one year Alabama won the NC with the 5 starters playing like 97% of the snaps. I was so jealous since LSU seemed to always lose a couple starters to season ending injuries.
Great guards are not the same as tackles. They need more power and less quickness. A failure at tackle does not necessarily make a great guard.

The transfer portal may have an impact on this in the future. Historically, 4 was plenty because most OL stayed for 4 or 5 years. But if the trend is for OL to transfer after a redshirt sophomore year, then you might have to add 5 occasionally. But the 85 limit is a cruel master andy you need 3 or 4 DL at each position to play. That means you have 14 and 15 DL playing significant minutes in real games if you want to have a fresh defense (this has been a problem for LSU lately). Many of the best college teams play only 6 or 7 OL each year. Hell, Alabama won a championship one year playing 5 OL. I think this year's LSU team was the outlier for successful OL on championship level teams. I think one of the reasons we won the award is how many guys had to play due to injury and suspensions.

Yes.
I saw the radio interview with Mike D.
1. You are talking about pros. We are talking about recruiting hs kids and lots of recruits change positions to find what fits them best. In hs it is not that hard for the best OL on the team to be an OT just because he is the best lineman on that hs team. However; in college he might be too big and his footwork might not be good enough to stay at OT.
2. I have lived thru many seasons where we/LSU did not have good enough OT play because Miles recruited too many guards.
The NFL is one thing and college is another. In the NFL you are taking the best out of college not hs and even then the current offensive line setup in the NFL is to have multiple ol that can play multiple positions because of roster limits.
I am an LSU fan and a Saint's fan and want both to win championships and I don't care what strategy they use as long as it works.
If I am being honest I disagree with Payton probably as much as I did with Miles. The Saint's would most likely have more than one SB championship if he had a more balanced team during Brees prime (better defensive teams). Miles most likely would have won more than one NCAA championship if his teams were more balanced (better more modern offensive teams). So No I do not think that I am better because I obviously am not or I would be a coach but I am also willing to state my opinion and even critique my own teams.

Agree with your take on needing more DL these days but not at the expense of Oline. Many Oline do stay 4 years, but a lot are not on the team because they transfer out due to lack of pt. Without looking at any data, it seems most years we use our depth to spell starters quite a bit on Oline. The year you cite on Bama feels like more the exception. We need 5 very good Olinemen on the field every single play, so signing 4 feels light in any recruiting year.
