Yet, Chavis defenses are always ranked right up there. You ever think that Chavis didn't have NEAR the talent that LSU has year in and year out? Just wondering. Ask Bo Pellini, he'll tell you. A CO defensive coordinator at OU and never had a chance to RUN an entire defense. Oh boy he did with us and look what happened! I bet Chavis is salivating to use some of what we have right now. Have a bevy of DT's at his disposal, an all SEC caliber cb in Peterson, some good lb's in Riley and Shepard, some above avg DE's in Alem and Levingston et al. The cupboard is full right now at LSU. Both offensively and defensively. Thank god we found a qb because that (and the lack of a true defensive coordinator) was our downfall last season. That appears to have been corrected thanks to you guys. (not the qb part)

Considering UT is #2 or #3 in the NFL with most active players..I think that HE HAS HAD A LOT OF TALENT...Chavis is ONE DIMENSIONAL..He either brings pressure from his front 7 or he doesn't...But he has his Db's PLAYING WAY OFF THE RECEIVER and he has always done this..Go back and look at UT's opponents ability to convert on 3rd down when it was over 15 yards and you will be surprised..With Chavis..You would rather a team have it 3rd and 3 than 3rd and 15...He CALLS OF THE DOGS and goes into that "KEEP EVERYTHING IN FRONT YOU"..Oh,just watch as the season goes on this year..You will see for yourself...Chavis PADS his stats on the cupcakes...You guys have to play Alabama,Ole Miss, Auburn,do you play Florida or Georgia this year?..Just wait and see..Time will tell..

Chavis will be ultra successful for you guys this year. While his teams play a lot of zone coverage tradionally, he relies upon his front four to pressure the qb as well as having them blitz the rb on their way to the qb. Recently, the dearth of good d-linemen have given the qbs of Tennessee's opponents the time to wait for their receivers to find the "soft spot" in the zone. Luckily for LSU, they are stocked deep with the stud DLs that Chavis needs for his defense to be successful.

Look, UT has has lousy offenses for years...The D is the only real bright spot you have had.. If the offense struggles, then the Defense gets tired

Lay off Chavis...

Butch Davis said this was an awesome hire, I will go with his word over yours

Someone posted on here a while back that Tennessee has had more defensive players drafted since 2002 than we have.

And as far as Butch goes he just pissed cause Chavis didn't take the job at Clemson..Caused Butch would have REALLY padded some numbers..I am telling you..In the games vs.Florida, Georgia, Alabama, LSU.. remember the game winning drive in 2006 you guys had: Chavis had Ryan Karl..The SLOWEST guy we had on one of your fastest players...Early Doucet.. He has NEVER been able to explain that one.. I wait until about mid-season and check in on "THE CHIEF" again..Maybe you can call Butch and ask him if he STILL thinks it's a great hire...

Your a meatball fan and Delusional...and you just wish ill will towards LSU...Your probably one of those fans that believes Miles can't coach a lick either.

Most objective UT fans recognize that Chavis is an excellent DC and a very good LB position coach...and when a top 5 HC in the country (Davis), says, the Chief is a damn good hire, you can take it to the bank that he is..we already knew that, but meatball, delusional, and frustrated UT fans can't see the truth.. Bottom line is: Change is good... UT needed a change, LSU need a change...both are happy with the result

LSU believes they have substantially upgraded the Defensive staff from what we had last year...post Pelini.

We will see how things transpire on the field.

The entire nation looks forward to seeing your beat down in Gainesville

We will see how great the old man is at stopping Urban's offense

If your going to beat UF, you have to have a solid offense...which you don't have..because you have no QB...No O-line or any proven backs..

Keep that mouth running UT fan.. your pie is on the way

What is all this shite about FLORIDA is gonna get you?..Hell that would GET YOU TOO..IF you made it to the SEC champ this year...Hell you'll want beat Alabama or Ole Miss..Good luck with The Chief and Big head Les..What a pair.. Everybody keeps looking for the BEATDOWN in Gainesville..CUM hung 59 on Chiefy baby in 2007...And we had Eric Ainge, Robert Meachem and a 1,000 yd rusher in Arian Foster..Good luck with the Chief and his "MUSTANG"...

A UT poster just called out LSU fans on their football coaching staff.

I'll say it again:

A UT POSTER JUST CALLED OUT LSU FANS ON THEIR FOOTBALL COACHING STAFF!!!

I wouldn't be any more confused than if I walked outside tonight, looked up in the sky, and saw the sun.

Stevie,

Fist of all, i wouldn't say anything about anyone else's team if my team had lost to wyoming last year. WYOMING! Oh and Florida has a good offense, in case you didn't know, they had the HEISMAN WINNER that year. And your offense was terrible that game. But of course you are going to just keep sounding like an idiot and saying things that make absolutely no sense

It is awkward for a Great Dane to frick a Chihuahua. Too bad LSU does not play Tennessee this year. I will root for Saban and Urban against you this year. At least they don't call out other teams in the SEC for stupid shite. Mind you this, you will be a Chihuahua.

I have literally never seen that happen. I have seen Cutcliffe's offense blow some pretty big leads late in games. . .You do know that it wasn't ALL Peyton Manning's doing that got Manning bent over by UF four straight years, right?

Cutcliffe sold Fulmer on that pathetic offense, and it ultimately doomed UT. I only recall one season where UT's defense had serious issues.

Dog the Chief all you want. You'll wish he was still wearing orange in a few short months. 7-5 is the best you'll do. . .and Eric Berry will be in the NFL as quick as he can sign his declaration.

how meatball fans do you have in Mountain Gumpville?

You have lost your respect for the chief...No DC or OC or HC is perfect..they all have made mistakes or made to look bad more than a few times..

Nick Saban took a 31-0 beat down to the hands of Alabama at home (at home!!)... The mightiest of them all in Defense right? probably the most respected coach outside of UT's staff by UT fans

The reason Urban hung 59 is because UF's talent level is considerably better your talent level, on both sides of the ball... in football, when momentum is overwhelming and a team's spirit is snapped...it falls like a house of cards... They aren't that much better talent wise, but none the less deeper, faster, overall better.

Your an idiot if you think Chavis is not a quality DC..

Maybe because you didn't have the front 4 to run his preferred D, is the reason he plays everything in front? Reading up on his philosophy...I think he will do great at LSU..

If he doesn't do well, he will get run..just like if Kiffin doesn't do up to expectation, he will get run. It's how it works..

I like the Chavis hire...I understand you don't agree

Consider this: You actually could be wrong.
