Nice try to bring USC or Pete carroll into this thread.

What Miles did was all classless.

It isn't a try if you wanna bring your opinion the thread, don't spew verbage with no bases for a legitiment arguement into it.

What Miles did was prudent. Any business man can see it.

You have 2 applicants for the same job......1 has applied twice before and failed you, another has applied once and his resume is strong.

Welcome to life, fruit fly.

No doubt it was business. It was ALSO all classless. Did he give a reason?

I sincerely doubt Bradshaw will bust his arse again to try and get a player to LSU. Everyone needs to realize that Bradshaw was a big weapon for LSU and he really worked to get Benton there. There may be some fence-mending that needs to be done between Miles and Bradshaw. Because you know that Saban's arse is going to be lurking around now

Nah, this is an issue between the Randle's and Benton's. Bradshaw realizes that there is nothing Miles could do. Both were Bastrop players. LSU didn't choose this...the Bastrop players did.

Yup, it's called conflict of interest.

Dayum, that does sound cold blooded. You go after a kid, offer him, and tell him "Sure, go look around at other schools. We want you to know there's no better place for you than LSU. We already know it, but we want you to know it too".

And then you pull his offer because somebody better comes along. Again, I'd like to give Miles the benefit of the doubt, but it sure does look like something shady. If that sort of thing gets out to future recruits, it'll look bad on LSU and Miles in particular.

Especially if Alleva really was giving the "fair catch" signal so Miles wouldn't answer the question.

Just, damn.

You mean classless like when kids pull a signing day switch?

Let's not act as if Benton is innocent. He tried for two years to get, all the while Les is holding a scholly for him.

Then, at the 11th hour, he decides "Let me take visits and see what else is out there." His scholly gets pulled and then says "C'mon...I was bullcrappin' man! I wasn't REALLY gonna go to that other school!"

Kids decommit all the time b/c they feel they've found something better. It's just reverse this time.

So would you be OK is Ol Pete took a chance on a kid who took 6 years to graduate HS, over a kid with more potential who has his stuff in order?

Truth is if Pete would have did it, it would have been the move of the century.

If this is true, then Miles is just as much a douchebag as Carrol, Meyer, and Saban. I'm not saying that as justification. I think those other three guys are tremendous dochebags, and now my coach is in that same pit of disgust.

If this is true about Randle's father not wanting him to compete. Then all this pampering and grooming must be for a run for the Presidency.

If Miles didn't act then there is a good possibility that we come out of this class with no WRs. Miles would have been crucified had he let Randle go that easy.

TO all Recruits this should be a message. Why show loyalty and dedication to a university it is all business and do what is best for you. Take those visits out of state and get in a situation that will benefit you because after it is said and done you are just a football player and they will do anything by any means possible to win. That sucks how it played out and hopefully he goes on to have an all american career at Auburn.

If Miles doesn't sign RR after not getting McKnight, you retards would have been calling for his head. He did what he had to do, Benton with all his troubles was never going to be reliable. He could play 1 year, fall into academic issues and bail to the Draft for all we know. It sucks for Benton but he had 2 opportunities.

This is what everyone is missing: the bad guy is RR's dad for forcing Miles to choose between 2 good players. RR wanted to come, and Benton is not to blame (although he'd already be here if he paid attention to his school work).

I would hope the Bastrop coach understands that Miles was forced into this choice.

Maybe the most honorable thing to do would have been to tell RR's dad to p@#$ off. But then he would have lost a kid who is most likely the better prospect of the 2, and worst of all, he may have lost him to Alabama. The Tiger Nation would have gone beserk.

Not Miles fault- just another reason that recruiting is the only part of college football I dont like.

From the thread above he says: Said he wished him well, and that he looked at each player individually, and that players come on their own accord, not based on who's in class and who's not in class.

If true, then he lied, which makes it more classless.

I'm concerned about players blackmailing coaches and kids not wanting to play against competition on the same team.

This is assuming that most 17 year old recruits place a value on loyalty, or even know what that means anymore. You're looking at the result of things and calling it the cause. The cause is, 17 year olds DON'T have loyalty, and if coaches don't put themselves in the best position for what's best for the school they will get screwed, and yes, have their loyalty to keep them warm at night.
