You basically said we have trouble at OL because we don’t hve enough white football players.

You really can't project OL guys on their recruiting ranking. That can really be said with any recruit or position but especially OL guys.

Look at Armstead, Ramcyzk, Kelce. Even in this years draft you have guys like Cody Ford from Pineville. Look at UF and compare Jawaan Taylor and Martez Ivey.

Ok, even if it is 50/50...

Your original point is that we’re disadvantages because it “lends itself to Caucasian” but clearly half the NFL is AA at 4/5 positions.

So where is our disadvantage? Like sure we don’t get big ole white guys from Iowa, but Iowa isn’t recruiting as many AAs as we are

I agree about Texas and Georgia, but not Alabama. I can't recall one big time OL from Alabama in the past few years that really dominated in college. UA puts OL in the league, but most of them are from out of state. I'm sure I'm missing one or two, but the last two big-time players I recall from Alabama was Willie Anderson and Chris Samuels, both were from around Mobile and both played in the league a long time.

Nice facts and data, Sammy.

Hey, how many of these guys are white and how many are black?

Just kidding, Sampson and AlxTgr...you guys are alright.

Whiteworth is white

The rest are black

Honestly I think it has more to do with OL getting underscored in Wisconsin where it’s almost a glamour position.

Not gonna attest to the "bug time" or pro success but AL produces more highly regarded OL recruits than LA. They have 3 top 100 level OL just this year. You are correct that a lot of Bamas top OL are OOS.

Am I the only one who notices that for all the talent Louisiana produces in football that it seems like we never have elite offensive linemen or quarterbacks.

This has been widely known for 50 years, so no, you are not the only one. The lack of offensive linemen has been widely known. In the last 10 years Lousiana has produced some very high quality offensive linemen, but one went to Auburn, and another to Bama.

Louisiana used to produce a lot of good QBs. At one time Ferguson, Bradshaw, and Bert Jones wer three of 28 starting NFL QBs. And there were plenty of backups from Louisiana like Norris Weese. The reason for the modern dearth of QBs is that much fewer white people play footbal, and Louisiana was late to adopt the style of ball that tends to suit black QBs. I think this will turn around now that Louisiana teams are running spread offenses.

I can't express how rich this is coming from a supposed lawyer.

I unfortunately don't deal exclusively in semantics, counsel.

Good luck with your "rea$oning"...lol.

Not a good showing for you in this thread, man...

supposed

You are welcome.

I'm going to let you have the final word, if you want...no point in us going back and forth any longer after this blatant beat down...much of it was self-inflicted by you, too, especially at the end.

Have a nice evening.

Looking at NFL stats there are 11 OTs from Louisiana in the NFL from 2014-2018, 2 of which played at LSU. 2 played at Bama and Greg Robinson played at Auburn, but there are a lot of tackles from Louisiana that played for LA Tech, USM, Kansas State, etc. and made NFL rosters.

There's obviously some talent there but our coaching staffs over the years have not been able to project players well enough and find the "diamonds in the rough". They probably also slow played some of them during recruiting waiting on bigger fish we didn't land. Either way we need to get better finding these guys because they are out there.

Louisiana players in the NFL- sort by position
