When you look at who top recruits are consistently mentioning as schools of interest it’s Bama, Clemson and LSU, Which by no surprise have the 3 top recruiting classes as of now too.

This is a pretty impressive feat for O considering we haven’t had the success those two programs have had lately, and a good sign of things to come.

There is no doubt this is a different level of recruiting for LSU in terms of national presence. Usually years we’re top 2-3 we are also stacked in state.

It really is awesome how large our footprint is now. A lot of credit should go to O, but Bill Busch, Raymond, and the new offense from
Joe Brady are big reasons for our surge.

It makes me wonder, what is Coach O selling these kids? Is it the hospitality of the staff? Is it the facilities? Is it the new schemes? How is O grabbing the attention of 5 stars all around America with the likes of hardware winners Bama and Clemson? We haven’t won a chip in over 10 years so how are we in such good company?

Alabama getting their shite shoved in in the NCG

Major schools like USC being down

Creating a culture similar to Clemson

Taking advantage of LSU’s national relevance

New facilities

New coaches

Dave Aranda

Recruiting budget

IMO...

LSU got a lot of great press with the Burrow and Tracy transfers. The national media speaks well of LSU. There were a couple great nationally televised LSU wins last year.

Recruits see that Orgeron is genuine. When people like the Mailman Malone says he delivered on all his promises, people take note.

Orgeron, like CLM, has some great recruiters, but Orgeron's guys can actually coach.(yes I realize there are exceptions).

Orgeron recruits the whole family, especially the moms. He tells them he is going to take care of their sons while they are at LSU. And all his players say that he does.

And finally, there is momentum at LSU. It's not unreasonable to think we could be Bama in a year or two.

ETA
I also agree with CS below.

I think a lot of it involves more macro level changes that Orgeron has made to LSU's recruiting efforts.

Networking, building up the recruiting infrastructure within the AD (mirroring 'Bama), establishing a recruiting type culture among the coaches, better evaluations, etc. All of this takes time to implement and build, which is why I think Orgeron's first class was underwhelming. But we started to reap the rewards last year and we're obviously doing the same thing this year.

And now with Woodward coming in, I feel that some of Orgeron's past requests, whether it was infrastructural changes, AD personnel, budgetary concerns, etc, are more likely to be approved.

I think LSU and Orgeron is/are trying to take the best aspects of Bama and Clemson and injecting them into Baton Rouge. The football factory aspect of Alabama can be worked by showing our NFL draft picks and stars in the league. Elite coaches like Aranda, Raymond, etc show that you’re going to be developed well. Then combine that with the family environment that Clemson has created - One Team One Heartbeat, LSU family, etc.

When you say creating a culture like Clemson, can you be more specific?

I agree with everything that you and everyone else here has said. It all plays into our recent recruiting success. But our success on the field last season (10-3 when many had predicted 6 or 7 wins) definitely has a lot to do with it. Kids love to hop on a train that is gathering speed, and right now, that train is us.

I think there was a lot more negative recruiting he had to overcome his first 2 years (worst Ole Miss coach in history, a graveyard for QB’s, OC turnover, etc). Now that we have a known commodity in a returning QB that lit it up in the bowl game and a huge surrounding cast of skill players on O to match our stout D, people are taking notice.

O can now combat much of the negativity and point to the skins on the wall (Top 10 wins) and a clear direction of improved offensive identity with the hire of Brady. With his work ethic and loaded ammo, O is now on the warpath and every bit of the recruiter we hoped he would/could/should be.

LSU has a top five football culture in America. The entire state bought in. It’s unique, it’s fun, players rep it with passion. It is built to sustain lean times, and when your lean times are 8 win seasons you have a lot to build on. O understands what he’s selling and he is willing to outwork the competition. And now it’s all coming together. A big season in 2019 will only improve recruiting more.

Well, this is nothing new. It's been like this for 10+ years. Coach O was hired to maintain that and expand.

When Coach O was passed over at USC, a LOT of players were NOT happy, on the team, and recently departed. The radio shows out here were loaded with ex players highly upset with USC's AD (Aleva level of pissed off)!! Any USC player that went to the NFL, and was on local radio, LOVED coach O. I do not know what he does, but anybody that was in his orbit at USC seems to LOVE him.
