Not trolling just serious question. This kids highlights look great. Love everything about him. But what gives everyone the optimism that he’s going to be any better than the other top 100 QBs we’ve signed in the past? Such as Rettig, Harris etc. in the long run, stars don’t matter as much I know. I’m just looking for answers from others. I think he’s going to be good.

You’re greatly underestimating system as it relates to QB development.

When you’re asked to throw 10-15 times a game (with 8/10 being play action) as opposed to a wide open spread attack, development is slower (or in some case never happens)

High completion rate

Made huge jump from sophomore to junior season

Obviously comes from a football family so he should know things pretty well

We offered super early on (after freshman), before he ever started a game, and his offer list ended up being really good (Georgia, Penn State, Texas, A&M to name a few)

1. He won’t be handing it 40 times a game
2. The passing game involves more than single receiver / max protection routes

Pedigree. Coaching father. Plays in a tough league. Texas has a great summer 7 on 7 program.. Much better than Louisiana I guess not this year.

Nuss probably gets dinged a bit because he is 6 1 and 175. Presumably that changes. He and Max and Finley have two years to figure it out.

The answer is we will never know.. until he plays if he does. Max Johnson is no slouch. Neither is Finley. Who works the most or the most efficiently. Who handles the mental game.

Can LSU develop a QB. With Linehan and Ensminger and the offense we can.

This is what I was looking for. I guess I’m still hesitant. Obviously not nearly as much as I used to be following Joes dominance. I’m just curious to see how we develop a QB that has only played in our system and didn’t transfer in. I’m also sure he’ll probably end ranked even higher than he already is. Thanks for this answer.

Trust the coaches. There are no sue shots. Five stars like Freak Johnson and Russel Shepard have nice careers but get late round draft status. Then 3 stars like Justin Jefferson and Clyde Helaire are first round picks and Lloyd Cushinberry is an early third round selection.

Just hope you hit on more than you miss and hope you replace the ones you missed with even better players.

Remember the 5 star linebacker from Illinois Garret who couldn't handle the southern heat? Replaced him with Patrick Queen. How did that work out?
