Rivals national recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer has a story today on the top forwards in the 2010 class. He has both Matt Derenbecker and Ralston Turner listed as forwards, which is debatable, but he has them highly rated. He has different categories, such as best ballhandler, defender, etc.
He has Derenbecker and Turner as the No.4 and No.5 best shooters among all forwards.
2010 Forward rankings
He has Derenbecker and Turner as the No.4 and No.5 best shooters among all forwards.
quote:
4) Matt Derenbecker
High school: Metairie (la.) Park Country Day
College choice: LSU
The buzz: Derenbecker's game has a lot of similarities to Purdue forward Robbie Hummel's game, but Derenbecker is an even better long-range shooter.
5) Ralston Turner
High school: Muscle Shoals (Ala.) Muscle Shoals
College choice: LSU
The buzz: Turner's forte is making three-point shots, and he will be counted upon heavily at LSU as a spot-up shooter.

I haven't seen Derenbecker play yet, but if this comparison is accurate...

after last year's massacre, I can't help but be excited about the fresh blood next season.

Is there free video of them online?

I think I'm more excited about basketball season this upcoming year than I am football for the First time in my life.

I said that first But Lester Earl wanted to argue. Just shows his lack of knowledge

I will gIve you credit. You are the first person I heard compare him to Hummel. I hope it's accurate.

Same here. I love LSU football and baseball, but it's a different feeling with hoops. Usually I start really thinking about it once football starts and I'm spending Saturdays on campus tailgating. By the time Nov rolls around I have usually set the expectations way too high.

I'd say it's fair to compare the two as far as RH when he came out of HS. RH looked to be slightly better around the hoop but MD is a better ball handler and shooter than the Purdue star was at the same age. Matt could play point forward in a pinch. Not sure RH has that ability.
