Yeah at the beginning of the year, I said they'll be lucky to get past the 2nd round. They looked absolutely dreadful. Maybe the worst I'd ever seen WM play.

I can tell that you're not very old. 22 years ago you would have seen a lot worse.

per capita I would be willing to bet the Monroe area dominates and when you throw the Shreveport area, Haynesville, Oak Grove, and the others already mentioned into the mix, the northern part of the state dominates HS football.

Its a huge plus when all the talent in the area either goes to Neville or West Monroe. The New Orleans area talent is split between lots of schools with decent football programs.

Define outsized? The Neville linemen were larger at every position than the Breaux Bridge linemen.

Do you need glasses? I tried to look up BB's roster but it didnt show their weight. Only 2-3 of the Neville starting O-lineman weigh over 250. Only one of the starting D-lineman weigh over 250.

Here's Neville's LINK

Hmm now here I was thinking that Ouachita Ruston Bastrop Rayville OCS Oak Grove (all of those places its pretty reasonable to consider NELA) were all good talented programs currently. I guess they just dont get any talent though...

Your statement would be true if Monroe/West Monroe were the same size as New Orleans.

Dont understand the argument when West Monroe is one of the 3 biggest schools in the state student wise. Add that with excellent coaching and thats why they play for the championship every season.

Obviously you're the one who needs glasses. I was at the game, were you? You proved my point. BB has only one O-lineman who even weighs 250. Josh Alexander is the only "outsized" lineman on the BB squad. BB's strength was speed, not size. Neville has a good enough team without having to exaggerate their accomplishments. Link to BB's roster but I can save you the click:

QB Randall Menard 6'2 172 JR, RB Darrian Thomas 5'10 173 SR, RB Adrian Menard 5'9 189 SR, RB Lamar Louis 6'0 215 SR, WR Travin Dural 6'2 175 SR, WR Kavahra Holmes 6'1 168 SR, TE Quan Randall 5'11 177 SR, OT Brandon Boyd 5'9 205 SR, OT Germaine Biggs 6'2 210 SR, OG Raelynn Boutte 5'9 252 SR, OG Dion Williams 5'10 179 SR, C Matthew Picard 5'11 211 JR

DE Ronald Girouard 6'0 190 JR, DE Clifton Babineaux 5'10 175 SR, DT Derrick Wiltz 6'0 246 SR, DT Josh Alexander 6'1 286 SR, LB Tyren Alexander 6'0 192 Sr, LB Lamar Louis 6'0 215 SR, SS Brandon Chevalier 5'8 181 SR, WS Tevin Mouton 5'9 161 SR, FS Devante Wiltz 5'9 158 SR, CB Josh Williams 5'10 175 SR, CB Demarkus Daughdrill 5'9 155 JR

Lafayette and Fontainebleau should be in the Dome every year then if it's all about size.

If I were talking about WM only then yes you would be correct. However, we are talking about NELA football.

St. Aug and Karr can out- athlete WM just about every year. WM wins with superior S&C program and great coaching. Karr has more D-1 signees in one year than Nev has in the past decade.

Dont know about all of the smaller schools in that area, but Neville and Bastrop are pretty big schools for the classes they play in.

coaching, I cant even take up for them. They are loaded. If they cant win a championship with the sophomore class they have now then I dont know what to say.

idk about that, the west monroe teams from 2009 and 2010 had athletes. I watched them play St.Aug a few years ago and the two best athletes on the field outside of Tyrann were Paul Turner and whoever the running back from West Monroe was that year, I think his last name was Cain.

Karr coaching is actually pretty good and they actually coach up the talent. They have been a top 3 team in 4a the last 3 years. Have made back to back championships and were upset by Salmen in the quarters the year before that. Put Karr's coaching staff at St.Aug and they might get back to winning championships.

Yeah at the beginning of the year, I said they'll be lucky to get past the 2nd round.

You and I weren't the only ones thinking this way: Monroe News Star

quote:

But while some other classes featured stars across the board, the 2011 senior class reached the title game with improvement and guts.

The Rebels lost two of their first three games to Byrd and Madison Central (Miss.) before winning 11 straight, and Shows said it's a much different team.

"All the classes are special in their own way, and each has deficiencies and pluses," Shows said. "But this class is so special because of how far they've come since the beginning of the season.

"Quarterback and secondary were huge issues ... but the secondary has been a big surprise, and we are getting consistent quarterback play now."

None of that has been lost on senior quarterback Connor Osborne.

"We've always been that class that everyone doubted," Osborne said. "Nobody thought we would make it this far.

"I know our seniors believed that we could, and we picked each other up and led this team."

Good article talking about WM's senior class reaching their fourth finals game. Also mentions the seven year straight when WM made the finals.

NELA owns the state of Louisiana, always has since the days of Ruston and Neville playing for state every year.
