Don't we have almost too many S's? Jackson is a CB.

CB's. We could use some safeties which is why we'd love to get Loston AND Holloman.

what people don't understand is that the staff probably wants to bring in a CB because they foresee attrition happening at the position, it's inevitable with the numbers at the position.
LSU can't just pick up a 5* RB just for the hell of it, gotta fill the needs first and foremost.
and as mentioned before, we whiffed on top prospects in lynn, winston, smith, kirkpatrick...looking at the list, there's virtually nobody else.

Well, while we do have a lot of CB's, i'm not sure how many could actually start in the SEC. But with the amount of nickel we play we do need CB's.

Did they whiff that bad on recruiting CBs recently then? Every CB on our roster was highly touted (4-star + Peterson) except 2 (Ryan St. Julien + Derrick Bryant). Maybe they're just too young to tell right now?

I sure do hope we start using CBs in Nickel and Dime and not 210-215 pound safeties

or it could mean that the elite CB's are passing on LSU this year.
...I believe it was mentioned that they wanted to bring in another CB anyway, so this is obviously it.
I understand that this may very well be the case, but why exactly is it so imperative for us to add a corner this year if its not a consensus top flight guy, I mean considering the fact that we have so many real great players looking at us in other positions and with limited schollies left.
I mean looking at how youthful and talented our pool is at for corner next year with:
Chris Hawkins Sr.
Ron Brooks So.
Phelon Jones So.
Jai Eugene Jr.
Patrick Peterson So.
Ryan St. Julien So.? (I don't know if he's a RS or not)
Derrick Bryant So.
Brandon Taylor So. (RS?)
Danny McCray Sr. (gets used at nickel corner spot a lot)
John Williams So. (I think can play corner or WR)
Considering our pool of talented and young corners is so deep, it just doesn't strike me as crucial for us to sign a CB this year if he's not top notch...and that's not to say that the coaches don't think that maybe Claiborne is, but all things considered it seems like maybe our limited number of schollies could be better utilized on other guys. Just a thought. Obviously the coaches know more about the overall situation than any of us.

Most of them are still very young. Ask yourself that same question at this time next year and you'll most likely be able to answer your own question. CB should be one of the strengths of our team in a couple of years.

Welcome to the LSU TIGERS, Morris Claiborne.
Now, can anyone clear this up. Based on what I've read, he is playing QB and WR. He is being listed as a CB. What was he doing that impressed the coaches at camp?

with all that young talent that you put up there, you'd have to believe that one, two, maybe even 3 would see the writing on the wall and transfer. that leaves you in a hole right there in terms of depth.

This is a terrible way to recruit if true (GUESSING attrition will happen?)
What if only 1 or none of them leave?

if another person quotes Dandy Don im going to go apeshit

T-bird you gotta believe that the coaches probably know if attrition will happen. We're the only ones guessing, I'm sure they have been notified or are in tune to potential attrition.

my guess is Miles looking at some DB to play on the offense when JL throws the ball, Claiborne might be used that way

Why don't we go after an actual position of need right now? You know, like LB? What if we can't get Bostic or Jones. We get Mingo, who might not even end up at LB. Seems like getting Chris Williams or Jonathan Stewart would be a better idea than adding another CB

Amen to that. I thought it was a given that you don't use him as a source for recruiting.

He has the size and speed. He has fluid hips, and showed good coverage skills, and hands.
