ETA: frick it. No point in recruiting one and dones anymore. We'll never be Kentucky so it's pointless. Last year proved that trying to add one super talented piece to a bunch of moderately talented pieces where everyone knows it's a one year only thing isn't going to work. We'll never win that way.

Last year was a team of selfish kids that knew NBA scouts were at the games and wanted to show out. Was pathetic.

LSU will NOT be considered hot, trailer park or anything else. Well, probably a hot seat for JJ. And if you think LSU didn't want this kid, you need to get out every once in a while, and get a few opinions from someone other than your 3rd cousin. And for what it's worth , there are parts of the country where La. is considered the heart of trailer park trash.

It's not about whether he is or not, it's that he most likely views himself that way. Look at some of the big men Freshmen this year that declared and didn't even play significant minutes.

He's got a high possibility at being 1 and done. Very skilled, athletic, knows the game. Smart kid, very good kid. Has a chance to be special at the highest level.

Is Malik Newman still transferring to WKU. Saw a report on ESPN that rumored him going there

In my mind, I'm already there.

Rick Stansbury

Spoke to someone at a wedding recently who is on the basketball staff at a D-1 university (Not LSU and I can't reveal the school). Word on the coaching circle streets is that Stansbury is lined up to jump to LSU after (if) CJJ is let go this year.

Just saying...

That'd be stupid. Moo st brought in a coach with 3 FFs, Alabama an NBA coach, and we'd get an in-conference retread who hasn't won a tourney game in a decade.

Stansbury is the proto-JJ. Sign loaded classes and lose in the round of 64. If that happens, I'm done with LSU basketball.

Like I say in every Mitch Rob thread (and I saw him play 13 times last year), he needs to cut out the cheap fouls, fill out in the upper body, develop one more move in the post, and work on his passing...

But yeah, no more sugarcoating it... he's gonna be a pro one day.

They were in his final list, but Malik is going to Kansas. He realized going to a Non-Factor basketball school and being the ONLY guy on the roster isn't all it's cracked up to be. He made a smart decision for himself to sit out a year and really learn the game.

Well the problem was he wasn't good enough for that.

People said the same thing about Ben Simmons, they were wrong.

Malik will be an All American at Kansas now that he is giving up on being a true point guard. He was in a bad situation at Miss State, made worse by the fact he insisted on being a ball hog.

The difference is Ben is really good so he stood out while Malik isn't nearly as good so he didn't. Newman wasn't even the best guard on that team.

He'll obviously have a better supporting cast and better coaching but even with that he's got a ways to go to be an AA. Hell, Kansas might end up with a one and done in that class that keeps him on bench.
