LBer not a huge priority position wise but this guy was definitely the one to get...should be the first and only LBer signed in 2013. Noticed that ESPN as usual was the rogue rating service...a 3* while Scouts, Rivals, and 24/7 have him 4*. Wonder if ESPN really watches ANY film on HS players or goes to see ANY games? Bizarre outfit but then again they feature Corso and Holtz and Herby... 'nuff said I guess. Great pickup!

We would like Beckwith as well. Some uncertainty of where he projects but he appears to be a guy that will be given first opportunity at LB if he stays instate to support LSU and our state.

Beckwith will be DE, IMO.

We needed a MLB in this class with the uncertain future of Granier.

Possibly but he'll be looked at LB first.

The numbers game is started to squeeze some positions. I think everybody here thinks at least 3 more DL are needed for this class. I would take 1 more OL, only 1 RB, surely at least 1 or 2 more secondary guys (probably 1 S and 1 CB). Then maybe another WR. Then there is TE & Smith which adds 1 more obviously. That is another 9 guys right there and 26 overall and I didn't even include another LBer or a kicker which I would consider if it was the guy from Colorado. Some don't care about a RB this time but I don't like 1 RB total over a 2 year period (I don't care who is coming up in 2014). So something is going to have to give somewhere.

Over/under Desean Smith commits by July camp? Reportedly Jones and Smith are close and wanted to commit around the same time

on the Jefferson deal. One thing that I am NOT in agreement with some people on is "saving" scholarships for local/LA players. Here is the way they don't get squeezed out by the numbers...commit promptly or let the coaches know they are going out of state.

Miles won't deny Jefferson a spot regardless of how long he waits

Not sure that is a proper use of over/under but I will give you a percentage. I think he will commit around mid July...odds about 80%.

We'll see...last year I would agree due to room. This year to address dire DL needs and probably secondary needs now that 3 guys left the program along with the NFL guys, unless Jefferson ends up in the secondary, I don't think he has a scholarship saved...not this class with the guys still left on the board like Smith, Beckwith, and the positions I mentioned above.

I highly doubt an instate offer would be rescinded by Miles this year, regardless of the player.

Who said the offer would be rescinded? I certainly didn't. What I said was and obviously in the case, if you RUN OUT of scholarships, that is it. That is NOT rescinding a scholarship. Here's the deal...if you want to play for LSU, commit to LSU. Don't expect to come in when the class has filled up and then expect a scholarship. You said "no matter how long he waits" I believe. I still say THIS year he doesn't have a "saved scholarship".

Looks like a great MLB potential. He also runs well with the ball...how about using him in a short snap from the punting formation?

I didn't quote you and was responding in general. Chill. I never said "no matter how long he waits" you must be confusing me with someone else.

I do believe that the instate offers will stay out there until accepted.
