I see all of that renewed NIL money has them going after some really high profile guys at the P4 level. Geez Rinse and Repeat !!

Matthew Brune reports that as of right now Jalen Reed and Robert Miller are the only two guys that the program has confidence in to return
I guess those are probably the best building blocks but also

That is actually great news. I would have liked Givens and VJ back, but oh well. Robert Miller started playing great later in the year

It might be if McMahon had ever shown the ability to find good players out the portal. He's gotten 3 good players in 3 years. KJ followed him from Murray and Wright and Cam were local guys coming back home. Him showing interest in the small guard that can't shoot from Prairie View isn't instilling confidence.

There's a possibility that we have more come back. Brune said it sounds like we'd welcome guys like Chest, Givens, and Collins back also they just haven't made their decisions as of right now.

Here are also some other portal names that the coaching staff has been connected to in the past. Nothing confirmed about us reaching out though.
Chance Moore- St. Bonaventure Guard (Visited LSU out of high school in 2021)
LINK
Taylor Bol Bowen- FSU Forward (One of McMahons first offers at LSU)
LINK
Brandon Rechsteiner- VT Guard (Chose VT over LSU and others in 2022)

Pettway’s numbers according to Evan Miya are quite poor. I fear if we get him it will be more of the same failure that could be a piece that shows McMahon the door. Just speculation; I’ve never seen him play, but I’m not sure that we should seriously target him.
White has good offensive numbers on that site but mediocre if not underwhelming defensive numbers.
Again, it’s just one set of measurements or one guy’s perspective, but neither Pettway nor White seem like they’d get McMahon out of suckville.
Of course, there might not be too many in the portal who could do that. Right now, exiting suckville for LSU basketball seems like trying to exit a black hole

White has shot well from 3 his whole career and the teams that have contacted him is actually impressive. He would likely be a get.

White is good. Pettway would be just another high scorer from the worst league in the country who would probably not even score 8 points per game here

None of these bums will move the needle.

I get what you are saying but they provablt aren't going to get those guys.
You can build a great team from lower league guys.

Jacari white kid looks nice.
Big and can handle the ball while getting to the rim. Has athleticism.
I like tanajh pettway too. Great dribbling skills while getting to the basket.
The problem is lsu needs to land like 3 or 4 of these jacari white types at the very least.

Yeah, because those guys are readily available with the ongoing postseason tournaments across the sport. The guys that will be the top names in the portal are likely either still playing or have recently been eliminated.

I know people want to crown him…but if LSU wants to get better we need our bigs to be skilled and consistently play hard. If you watch the NCAAT, our big men are not in the same stratosphere. Reed is very good and Miller has loads of potential.

I was actually just telling someone this same thing. Loved Corey and wished he could’ve developed here but high motor guys isn’t something we won’t be able to find in the portal. Corey needs a lot of offensive development.
