You have a great point and I agree. That said the last instate kid we really wanted to go somewhere other than Bama was Van Pran to Georgia.

I do believe that things are going to get more and more interesting with instate kids and schools other than Bama as the next few years come about. These kids want to get out these days and all around us are big time schools with very good recruiting staffs. It's inevitable that more and more LA kids will venture out of state. O seems to be preparing for the next wave of recruiting challenges with his recruiting hires the last few months.

Orgeron has done a great job of keeping the top talent in state. Bama isn’t even coming in to get whoever they want anymore. See Ryan, Sage.

LSU didn’t push for van pran until the end and there was never much mutual interest. He attends a school that hates LSU.

yeah, i get what you’re saying. I believe it was said he really connected with Herm. Plus the west coast living style it would all add up. Herm will have them very competitive this year.

But Smith being the catalyst for a day of the hire - day of commitment is shocking as well.

Look at how much LA talent that LSU has made a priority that has stayed at home since 2018. The trend is moving the opposite direction right now.

and it’s just crazy to think that Arizona State was about to come into the boot and steal a 5 star athlete from us
Yeah I’m sure it would have lasted....

if LSU wants to stay competitive, it’s going to have to remain a top school for out of state talent, then.

Visit Arizona States campus and spend a weekend and you’ll understand why.. that place is like something out of a movie. Glad we locked up Jacoby.

Would agree 100 percent. Tempe is gorgeous and so are the sites.

I’ve been, i’d disagree. It was a ton of fun and I could see why it’s alluring to HS/College kids as a place to live and go to school.

I lived In Arizona it’s heaven but football is not remotely important. For the LSU Arizona game, at Arizona, I remember LSU fans drinking several bars out of booze and being able to park right next to the stadium 2 hours before kickoff. There is so much to do
Out there that football is just another activity.

Jacoby and his family really like Herm Edwards. I'm sure the massive hordes of pussy didn't hurt, but I think Herm was the big attraction.
