Thanks for the update. I am getting a good vibe on this kid. I really think he's going to end up with LSU. If he commits soon, it might start a new trend!

Mario Edwards now has "high interest" in LSU
Would that be just because he is making a visit or is there likely something more to it?

Those things rarely mean anything. Pretty much anyone can tinker with them, IIRC.

but I truly believe some schools and coaches don't have to negative recruit, just let your product sell it self.
It clearly works for them, though. . .

My whole feeling about Edwards is that he is doing due diligence, as he should. Ultimately, I don't think he can go wrong at either school. We really don't know how important following his dad at FSU is to his dad or to himself.
Or for that matter how much relationships he's built up at FSU with other commits matter to him. What LSU has to offer is a recent history of sending defensive players - especially DB's and DL to the NFL, and Chavis and Brick.
And DL's will be leaving LSU on more or less a rotational basis (Brockers). At FSU, you will have all those talented DL's coming in at one time, all competing for starting spots.
The other thing is that LSU is much closer to Dallas (8hr drive), and Southwest has cheap nonstop service from Dallas to NOLA, less than an hour away. LSU has a clear advantage in the logistics department.
My guess is LSU will get him if he switches before NSD, if not, he is not going to do that to FSU on NSD.
1st thing = visit, if he does he thinks it over real hard, and a few days later, if he decides on LSU he will commit, if not, he's probably FSU.

Did his parents make the visit?

Why are you confused?
I'm not sure how it works on Scout, exactly, but Mike S. was very open about the fact that basically any Rivals writer could change those things at a whim.
He mentioned this specifically happening with guys like Collins last year, when Auburn kept saying he was 90% to them.

I think LSU has a real good shot with him. I know that FSU has some DL leaving after next year, but so will LSU. You have to think Mingo and Montgomery will probably declare after next year, which would mean Edwards would be a potential starter his Soph year. If he plays the way people expect him to, he could declare as Soph like Brockers or come back as Jr., finish degree and then declare after 3 years.
Aside from the comradery of the incoming FSU class, FSU has no advantage over LSU at this point, imo. Our defensive scheme fits him, he will play as a frosh, closer to home with games at College Station which is only 3 hours from Dallas, and he will play at a school that worships its defense and the players on it. We also have a rotation of talent on DL so there will never be a down year at DL or a "rebuilding". He will be a key part of a dominant DL every year he is here. Tailor-made 3 and out player getting drafted in the top 10 his Jr. year. Just like Dorsey, Jackson, Peterson, Claiborne, and Brockers.
I really hope we get this guy, but I know the odds are in FSU's favor.

Besides have you been to fsu campus or tallahassee? Not as nice as LSU and the football facilities are second to none at LSU esp when compared to fsu's.

Now I know your crazy....the only thing LSU has over FSU is the indoor pf. The rest of the FSU facility are second to none.

Not to mention....FSU/FAMU coeds if your MEJ. Not saying LSU doesn't have any eye candy...but no FSU I promise!

You are kidding yourself if you truly believe this.

I kind of thing that is a pretty big difference, as not too many teams have one. But I'm sure FSU does have good enough facilities. Facilities will be important.
LSU ADVANTAGES:
SEC
SEC on CBS
Chief, Brick
Closer to Dallas
Play a game in Texas
Facilities
Play Early
Good record of Lineman in NFL
Belichick loves LSU players
FSU ADVANTAGES:
Good incoming class he's friendly with
Dad played there
Longtime Commit
Play Early?
Good historic program

What does FSU have facility-wise that is better than LSU? I have never been to FSU's facilities.
I think both campuses are nice and neither has an advantage.
I have a hard time believing any top teir school has better facilities than LSU. FSU's might be just as good, but I don't know. I just know what LSU has and I can't see any way to really make it better.
Someone with knowledge of FSU facilities, please shed some light.

I will say it again like I always have....LSU has the city of BR which is a large city (for SEC standards) with an amazing near vegas (maybe better than Vegas) city less than an hour away. MEJ wants Night Life so this could be a selling point...but you also have to consider what Tally has...1 hour from P. City (great place for spring break when your in college), Jax beaches (2-1/2 hours, Destin (~3 hours), Tampa with Ebore (3-1/2), Atlanta (~4 hours), New Orleans (6 hours) and Miami (7-1/2 hours)...of course there is also Orlando...but lets be honest that's where the families go.
