You’re absolutely right. I went back and looked she maybe played 2/3 hard games in the non conference. I didn’t realize that. The one thing I always respected about Geno and Pat was they played a tough schedule every yr. UCONN has 7 games against tournament teams. The talent on this team those cupcake games will be over by the second quarter. I just think fans don’t want to see that. But I digress lol

I had heard her say we were working on a home and home with a Pac 12 team (who knows what conference they will be in now ). That may be for next year though.

If you start off ranked #1, like LSU will likely be, how far would a weak schedule make an undefeated team fall in the seedings come tournament time?

An undefeated UConn would likely jump an undefeated LSU bc of SOS, but in theory, falling no further than #4 overall still guarantees a #1 seed in a region, right?

Yeah our RPI & SOS will not be strong enough for the #1 overall seed I believe. Looking at UCONN’s schedule they will most likely be the top seed if they stay healthy.

If LSU hypothetically ran the table and won the SEC with minimal losses that should be more than enough to earn a 1 seed, probably not #1 seed overall though but could be wrong.

When Kim had the #1 overall seed back in 2019, Baylor had games won in the OOC schedule vs UCONN, South Carolina , and Arizona state. A lone loss to Stanford on the road. The rest of the OOC schedule was all cupcakes. And this is playing in a weaker Big 12 conference.

Having VT/Coloardo on schedule is already light years ahead of what LSU had on their schedule. Plus I think the committee with have a bit more respect for the SEC winner considering the success they had this past post season after we heard how terrible the SEC was all years by the national media. But to earn a #1 overall seed, we would probably need 2 or 3 more quality games in the OOC slate to have a shot at it. I just want LSU to play well enough to earn a 1 seed (2 at the very worst). The path to a final four is much easier after that

The schedule is even worse than I thought. Good lord. That’s awful. 10 cupcakes. 10????????

It is what it is. One of the few downsides of Kim is she never does much ooc. Sucks from a fan experience during the ooc period but it is what it is

Yeah it sucks from a fan standpoint. The national media is going to absolutely Rip LSU for this schedule. Especially if Colorado ends up not being as good as they were last year.

Looking at her last few Baylor schedules it was close to 1/3rd real teams and 2/3rds cupcakes. This year is kinda similar to that but the cupcakes look more gooey. 3 HBCUs and Queens(NC) got beat soundly by Bellarmine last year, who we beat by 75.

I think Kim is trolling the WBB community after they lashed at the schedule all of last year before they won the title. A team with Morrow, HVL, Reese, Flaujae and Mikaylah Williams along with the rest of the depth is certainly should be playing a bit better quality in terms of the OOC even if its weak..

Colorado, Virginia and VT are solid, I just wished we had a few more P5 teams sprinkled on. I

I guess our #1 recruiting class will get 15+ minutes a game with a lot of those games

I’m assuming the road game at Coppin State is so Angel can play a game in Baltimore.

Lol you know you might be on to something. Because why roll out an awesome video like that and have that schedule to end it. Mulkey knows she’s probably got the best team in the sport so why not troll? Lol But the freshmen will for sure get quality minutes. No doubt about that.

On the glass-half-full side, this team needs to gel. I prefer not having a Final Four matchup (like say a UConn so early in November) where you have to be in mid-season form to win, and new temmates haven't learned each other and/or what roles/rotations they will play.

Also, there'll be less physicality/wear & tear/injury risk. (Ex: UConn’s Ducharme just had yet another concussion on their Euro exhibition tour and there’s rumors of possible retirement.)

Plus, if they do get it in high gear relatively early, say scoring 150 ppg in cupcake blowouts, even after the SEC games bring the ppg avg down, there's still a chance they could break Providence's single season scoring avg of 96 ppg. LSU scored 102 on Iowa, without HVL, Morrow, Mikaylah, Velez, ADR or Kent. I really believe it's a possibility.

It would be nice to get a home and home with a UConn or Stanford , etc.
Maybe in the near future now that Kim has got the train rolling.

UVA lost 14 of their last 16 games last year. Still anyone questioning KMM on ANYTHING basketball is a fool

Who gives a flying @#$K what the national media thinks. They already got an egg to their face last year.

There’s a legitimate chance LSU goes undefeated in the regular season. I don’t think LSU is going to worry about a #1 seed this time.

They also had a major string of injuries that caused a lot of problems the last Half of the year to the point where they had to withdraw from WNIT due to being unable to field a team basically.

But at least its a P5 team with multiple 4 stars/nationally ranked recruits.

The game in Hammond should sellout! Would love to see the ladies travel up to Southern for game one year.
