JUST as all the other players at the other programs I’ve mentioned get chances in practices. Appreciate you advocating for your people by attempting to justify your position without reasonable support. But I do know those kids have excelled at practice too. Even if they hadn’t you completely miss the point—albeit probably intentionally Your last sentence is just nonsensical.

The irrational comments make me wonder what parents are on this board. These kids faced THE SAME pitchers in the SEC. I also coached against several of those same pitchers and had one on our squad.
You are just plain BIAS or DUMB!!!! McKee is not in the same stratosphere as Jones offensively. But keep riding with your buddies. I can now see you may be a parent.
You keep saying slapper but Sierra Daniel hit better than McKee last year AND last weekend. With better power numbers. McKee never came close to Jones on power ever.
Facts only.

Dude, I have in been in Baton Rouge for a long time, I have seen all Torina’s best teams and players. Daniel is a slapper and that’s it and that doesn’t play in the SEC unless you have elite speed. I guess Jones is your kid or former player or both because that’s your primary focus. So your entire conspiracy theory is they aren’t playing the second coming of Bianka Bell because they are friends with Mckee’s Dad? Do you know how absurd that is? Have you seen Jones vs Heavener? Berzon? No you haven’t and neither have I so you have no clue what the hell you’re talking about. If you think Jones will be a power threat at Tiger Park then you are clueless and haven’t been to many games there. This is one of the great conspiracies of LSU athletics , Mr McKee is dictating the starting lineups for LSU softball !!! Laughable

I’m saying I’m not at practices every day and neither are you so I trust that Torina wants to win and will play the best players. The other part is I watch the best teams like Florida, Texas, UCLA, Oklahoma and they don’t slap it around they pound the ball. To win in the league you need big hitters not small kids who are singles hitters

LoL!! Yep!!! Jones is my kid and so is Daniel but neither quite took my shade/color on (@TigerAssoc I hope you're reading this). And apologies to Jones' parents for joking around but sorry to push the wrong buttons. And no clue if they read this stuff but I'll quit joking about those kids and their parents. I don't know Daniels' dad but sure he's a great guy. I don't know Jones' dad personally (met him & the Hotshot head once) but he's actually a pretty well respected coach on the travel ball circuit and I think he still coaches in that organization. Apologies to them both if they read these boards.
Calm down there. They aren't my "conspiracy theories" and I don't think anyone suggested that McKee makes a lineup---The position others have taken is whether a friendship influences decision-making so stop with the absurdities to try and make a point. And yes I've seen Jones face Heavener before in travel ball. And saw Daniel and Jones face Berzon and Heavener once in scrimmage and live ABs. Jones actually had good success but that is beside any point being made.
The fact is Daniel had a higher slugging percentage than McKee in the only official numbers we have---playing last season. And neither of them had any HR's. Again I note the only extra base hit this past weekend between the two was by Daniel (with less at bats). So the slapper position compared to McKee is not a valid argument using only facts. .300 last season vs .237 last season batting averages too--if I had to pick one to say it doesn't play in the SEC it would be the lower averages, slugging, etc.
Keep wanting to just part ways with you amicably agreeing to disagree but keep pushing buttons so my apologies for that. I try to be civil on this thing but get testy when arguments don't have support and that's something I need to work on. I don't care if you're a parent to be honest. I spent 4 years of my life on that campus cheering for all the sports and I am a softball junkie so naturally I want my Tigers to be successful. The debates are entertainment for me. Don't mean to make them personal in any way..... agreeing to disagree again.
p.s. Went back and reread my prior post and I do apologize for using the word "dumb". Not called for. Told ya I get caught up in the arguments

No problems here it’s a message board and apparently we are both life long Tigers!! The only difference is I trust the best softball coach in LSU history to make the right calls.. It would have been fun to have a kid that played ball but I wasn’t that fortunate! I want to win, whomever gives the Tigers the best chance of that I’m going to cheer them on

Same here. Have two sons. Coached my sisters daughter years ago and turned into a junkie from there. Baseball (game I played) became a bit more boring after catching my first college softball game ages ago. Glad you seem to have changed your mind about trusting Beth. I once did—Not quite so much anymore. We shall see what happens……….

Torina is going to be the coach so we should support the program!! What changed is I saw the commitments this past recruiting cycle, the size and talent across the board is top notch, it’s a UCLA, Florida, OU type class so I think they are back on track recruiting wise and that will pay dividends down the road..

Oh wow gentlemen (assuming Casual is a man)! Missing all the fun LoL.
@TigerAlumn aka Pappa Coach Jones!!! LOL!!! Don't get mad at me TigerAlumn but after meeting you I can say you have some work to do in the gym and in the sun if you're trying to match up LMAO!!! Sorry, I couldn't resist!
@Casual I'm not going to try to rehash the ad nauseum arguments and positions already well laid out by Alumn, but I vehemently take exception to the Jones kid. Anyone that has seen her play would laugh you off this forum making a comment like that. She absolutely murdered balls against some of the same SEC pitchers we all think so highly of but again I don't want to get you guys going again. And Daniel really has proven herself.
No she doesn't have the crazy strong arm but by no means is it weak! She never would've been rotated through 3B last year if it were that weak. And offensively she was better than average last year while McKee was below average. Like several have said time will reveal how McKee (and honestly a few others) does once the real pitching shows up. Hope they all fair well and we are debating about them not being ranked #1 or #2 in the rankings, but evidence suggests not. Alumn does make some very well-reasoned and very logical points, and he may very well be proven wrong--I think we all hope so. But there is no denying Torina's approach is very different than the other successful top program coaches, and she may be the one with the magic recipe and the others approaching things wrong. Time will reveal.
*Heavener will have a solid year but will take some lumps that will show that she has some growing to do and will grow quickly with Berzon there to watch. Kid is talented and a great add to Berzon.
*Berzon will be a baller as usual
*Lassiter-if healthy-will right her ship and be a stead offensive force
*Coffey will have a great senior year and be the true team leader
*Redoutey may not light it up but will stay on the field because of Torina's affection for upperclassmen but I think she'll end up close to .300
*Walker and/or Laneaux will have solid years depending on who consistently gets chances
*Edwards looks wonderful so far but will fall off a bit once high level pitching rolls onto the schedule but will be LSU's best power threat for sure
*Bergeron still won't meet the lofty expectations that preceded her arrival but will do alright. Another mid .200s hitter likely repeating previous year around .260/.270 with a high strikeout ratio, but she'll be second best power threat on team. She'll be more valuable behind the plate defensively.
*We've debated 2B way too much so I won't even go there but the facts have been laid out and it is a huge question mark right now. Daniel is the closest thing to a good guess at 2B imho, but let's just let that one play out.
Still think team can finish with 45 wins or so depending on some of the questions. I know @Alumn might disagree with a little bit of this given our conversation, but guessing is fun :-). If they get to play this weekend (weather report not great), it will reveal a little more. The weekend after that is another slate of cream puffs where kids can pad their stats before going to Cali to see some of the best pitching they'll see all year in one game against UCLA.

Folks keep arguing travel/high school vs college, my argument is if Beth Torina saw that Jones is a better option at 2nd then she would play her. Beth and staff have seen every scrimmage and every practice, they have seen every freshmen vs Berzon, Heavener and the other pitchers and don’t think she is ready. I could care less what a high school kid does in travel and high school it doesn’t correlate to what they do in college at all..zero none nada..there are graveyards littered with 5 star busts. What some are saying is Beth is playing McKee only because of whoever her Dad is and that’s crazy talk. It’s an excuse.

YOU miss the points on purpose I think. Daniel wasn’t in high school last year. But I’m gonna do like the others and let you do that…. Makes no sense to me so I will get out of y’all’s debate.
Posted on 2/11/25 at 9:06 am to TigerByAssociation1
I’m talking about the freshmen mainly but the same argument is relavant to all players, if Torina thought they would help them win they will play..it’s really that simple. My guess is Daniels will play some just like the past weekend. I thought Heavener would have been a better matchup vs Southeastern but Beth chose Berzon and no one sees me arguing it’s because Torina knows Berzon’s Dad… that part of the argument is lazy, stupid and is baseless!!! Btw, none of you will answer what Freshmen should be starting and why, what facts do you guys have that support your position?? I’ll wait and listen but my guess it will be crickets

Yeah right. Beth approach has always been not to play freshmen (think you even once said Daniel, Mckee and Manning wouldn't have played but for injuries last year.). And Daniel (the player with the best resume) "play some"--therein lies the problem. And using "nonevidence" to support a position is the actual excuse. Instead of debating until the cows come home just keep watching........

Again, what you’re not saying is that the coaches have seen every practice, every scrimmage, every hitting session and have judged McKee a better option. Why do you think that is? Let’s hear it… you’re also wrong about not playing Freshmen..Briggs , Coffey and Pleasants were every day starters, Newland started a bunch. Andrews started a bunch.. Jayquish,Bell, Landry every day starters..Torina will start Freshmen if they deserve to start…these freshmen minus JH do not

Typical get smoked and shuts it down.. I love all these softball experts, travel ball part time coaches telling a 4 time WS coach how to coach because their baby isn’t starting…THEY ARENT GOOD ENOUGH!! You said she didn’t start Freshmen then I stated the facts and you ran like a little girl…go back to the beer league and travel ball circuit lol

Yeah, okay.... It's pointless to debate with you. It's all good. You run every time you respond by avoiding logic or skirting the clear evidence provided. I'll keep enjoying the beer league :-)

@Association!! Welcome back! Don't try to debate this guy. There are clearly agendas/relationships there.... And no I aint offended that I need to hit the gym LOL.....Wifey says the same thing and she doesn't offend me :-).
Posted on 2/11/25 at 11:08 am to TigerAlum4Life
Zero relationships or agendas, they see practice every day and you guys don’t.. I’m basing my arguments on facts, coaches know the talent on their squads and how they perform in practice. You guys are going back to high school and last year…it was then said she didn’t start freshmen until I disproved that lie…you guys think you know best, you’re accustomed to daddy ball and not big time athletics
