This should get another boost once Hurley gets re-graded. It seems to me that the only reason he’s not a top ~50 guy is because they hadn’t put much time/energy into grading out the 2025 class by the time he re-classed, and thus were highly conservative in their grading. Now that he’s moved up a year, they’ll have to give him a “real” grade, as opposed to what seemed to be something of a mere placeholder grade. The talent very clearly exceeds where he’s currently ranked, so I feel fairly confident in making this prediction.
I’ll also say—because I’m sure it’ll get brought up—that I don’t think there’s anything conspiratorial or malicious or even lazy about his current rating. I truly just think that it’s a product of a highly conservative approach with respect to kids who are that far out.
ETA: I think it's also relevant that the other 2024 QBs have had a full camp season where recruiting guys were watching them closely, while Hurley hasn't, given that he was classed as 2025 during the most recent camp season. Given the extent to which that stuff--camps, events, 7x7, etc--plays a role in QB evaluation, it may just be a matter of having to wait until they have a chance to evaluate him closely in that setting before they're comfortable hanging a big grade on him. As I said in a comment below, I'd have to think that he's on the very top of their list of QBs they want to see in-person this spring.

Agreed. His ranking of 150 is just a conservative placeholder.
Everyone knows he's going to rise eventually. It's just a matter of time imo.

Not saying it wont happen but when I asked a few times about Hurley's reclass ranking of 144 on 247 I got absolute crickets on it. It's also been 10 days since he got moved into the 2024 class as well. So either they were avoiding the argument or just didnt see it for whatever reason - asking one of the national guys that is. Unfortunately Sonny and company have no input on ratings/rankings like that.

247 changed his position to a LB a couple months ago. Not really sure what position the LSU staff likes him at.

Seriously? That's weird. He moves really well at his size.

Nah, I dont think that's the case. They don't have fluid rankings that they're constantly tweaking every day, moving a player up here and there and a player down here and there. They have static rankings that are updated in their entirety every so often. I could be wrong but I dont think they've had an update since he re-classed. And if they have updated, the lack of movement is likely due to the outsized importance of in-person looks at camps and events for QB evaluation. For the other 2024 QBs, these guys have already had a full camp season to watch them closely--but because Hurley was 2025, he probably just had fewer eyeballs on him.
We may ultimately have to wait until the spring when that stuff starts back up to see him jump. I'd expect that he's at the top of the list of guys they're going to watch closely the next time they get a chance. It seems like, with QBs, that stuff is generally treated as more important than game film--or at least is weighted more heavily than it is with respect to other positions. So it may just be a matter of having to wait.

Honestly, I think 247 is very behind on their 2024 rankings.
Kayree Lee & Xavier Atkins are prime examples. Neither of them were even ranked when they committed to LSU. After a few days...both of them were given a 3 star ranking & were put as the last player ranked in their 2024 Louisiana rankings.
Look what they did with Khayree Lee... LINK. They did the same with Atkins 2-3 months ago.
I just think 247 is dragging arse when it comes to 2024 right now. They're doing a good job with 2023 though, because they have to.
