Watching podium training for the GK Classic, and Aleah has sooooo much power on vault. She’s definitely capable of upgrading to an Amanar by 2020.

Aleah is really powerful. Looking forward to watching her upgrades in competition. Definitely needs to continue to increase her D score if she wants to be competitive.

It’s going to be extremely tight next year for a spot on the Olympic team. A lot of new seniors are really good. I think Leanne Wong will make it if she stays healthy. Simone is a lock on the team bearing injury.

Leanne has great form. I hated to see her struggle so much in podium training on all the events. Kinda weird to see her struggle like that. Is there still the “sense” out there that she’s going to Florida?

And I cannot even look that far to the Olympics. I hate to see so many hearts broken.

I honestly can't read her nor can her teammates about where she truly wants to go. She is taking it all in. She has visited LSU, UCLA, Florida, OU, Utah already. Jenny seems to feel good about her. I'm not convinced she ends up at LSU despite the connections. LSU seems more focused on other kids right now, which maybe signal low confidence in landing her. Jay is still on her though. It would be a big pull if he pulled that off. Who knows though, LSU has pulled off some major flips/changes over the last couple years with big recruits.

I try not to take a whole lot from podium training. Almost everyone was struggling today during podium training.

My dream is for Skye and Konnor to both attend LSU. I enjoy watching them so much. So happy that USA Gym is showing them both on the live feed.

Well LSU is in Konnor's top 3. There is a legit possibility LSU can get her. Jay has been on her for quite a long time. She has also visited LSU and been to multiple meets over the last few years.

Skye seems like a long shot at this point. Her sister is committed to Florida. That will be a tough one to get for anyone not named Florida. Florida has a ridiculous amount of national team member committed (Hurd, McCusker, Blakely, Jones, Thomas, Butler, Dicello, Greaves). How does Jenny continue to do it despite annually underachieving

Lilly finished 9th in the all around today. Her size is holding her back on those bigger skills that require more power. If she does a 1 1/2 on vault she finishes 5th in the AA. Vault is easily the highest scoring event and its a major breaker in the AA score when you can't do those other vaults. That cuts her AA score down by a full point at a minimum.

She did well on the other 3 events and is suppose to implement some of her upgrades at nationals next month. She is finally healthy again which is good to see.

Lilly on beam

Lilly on bars

Lilly on floor

Lilly continues to amaze me. My brain cannot comprehend how someone her size can do some of the toughest skills. I am very proud of her. Can’t wait to see how she performs at Nationals.

Just a side note since we mentioned Texas Dreams earlier in the week....Emma Malabuyo is injured again. Fractured her tibia earlier in the week. I’m so gutted for her. She has so much talent. The injuries she’s suffered the past few years are just so unfair. Wishing her a speedy recovery.

Crazy to see her standing there with those other athletes in just one year as an elite. Hitting 4/4 with all those new skills is phenomenal. Half the team is GAGE as well.

I bet don is ecstatic right now. Wonderful little gift for him to see Aleah make that team

Next step for her is to clean up the execution on vault, beam, and floor. Her bars D score has to go up another .500-600 points. Her floor is still being upgraded if I’m not mistaken. She has so much power on vault, hopefully she can control it better, or maybe upgrade?

Aleah got hammered on execution on beam with those ring leaps. She was still awarded credit for the skills though.

Big article just came out alleging there has been some “fishy” stuff going on at UCLA with a gymnast being on the team with no gymnastics history. I first read it on Gymcastic’s Twitter and now Spencer (Balance Beam Situation) just posted his response to it. Seems that UCLA may have a ‘history’ of this. He also mentioned Gunter and D’Antoni in his article, noting that they haven’t competed for LSU but they both have legit gymnastic skills/history. Apparently the ones at UCLA did not. It’s worth the read if anyone has time.

I saw that article, I’m not shocked though. There were other cases over the years with Val awarding a few girls spots on the team with other benefits despite not ever really training.

Don and Linabelle are suppose to be going to pan am which begins this weekend.

What was the advantage to UCLA to do this? With only 12 scholarships how did thisenhance the program? Was this some kind of " inducement" in recruiting?

Honestly, it was only really a matter of time before the college admissions scandal turned into a recruiting violations controversy. I think because USC and UCLA were the epicentre of the scandal, they basically had all of their programs scrutinised, and freshman walk-ons who don't compete and disappear after a year are a major red flag.

So now I'm guessing we need to turn our attention to Florida's massive incoming elite classes. You can't tell me that ultra-competitive elite gymnasts are happy with choosing a school where they know they have to sit back and maybe not contribute for a few years, as opposed to being the star of another equally impressive and successful program.

Thank God LSU is smart enough to play by the rules and earn their achievements based on talent and training.

I’ve always heard that the AD encouraged huge numbers on the gym team at UCLA...for Title IX purposes.
