Florida has to be demoralized. They had some extremely generous overscores, LSU just did their regular the only team without a 10 nobody was otherwordly, and Oklahoma was sloppy....and Florida still got 3rd.

You get 3 10s and the highest Team Bar score in history. LSU and OU took your best shot and you still couldn't get it done.

LSU was disrespected all night by the ESPN narrative focusing on Florida (and I hope Jay uses it as motivation for the team that people don't respect them), but they got the last laugh with the win. Imagine sticking Bryant's vault on replay that clinches LSU the title and her 2nd SEC AA championship. They also cut off some of her floor routine. Bryant is one of the 3 greatest NCAA gymnasts ever show her the respect she has earned.

I went in person, hadn't been able to go to a meet this year since work has been keeping me busy

LSU competed about as well as they possibly could have and were sharp. Only area you could potential nit pick and say we could have executed better would be vault landings but they really were locked in from the start. Well deserved SEC Championship

Allegedly Konnor is healthy and read to do floor... if thats the case it'll be interesting to see what Jay does this post season even though Konnor hasn't really had live reps on floor this season

I’m worried if we have to use both Sierra and Kylie on floor in post season. I’ve been really impressed with Kylie, but neither she nor Sierra are going to get us the 9.90+ scores that we need in post season. I’m not sure why, but it seems like that has been the case so far. I know Sierra has had some 9.90+ this year, but it’s so much harder to do in post season. For that reason, if Konnor is ready, I’d love to see her! Same with KJ but that seems to be a pipe dream lol.

Don't be too worried. LSU just beat their main threats to the Natty last night with Sierra and Kylie on floor.

The ideal floor lineup for Finals if they get there is Lincoln, Konnor, Chio, Drayton, Aleah and Bryant.

If Konnor really is ready, I hope we are in a position in regionals for Bryant to be subbed out because the meet is won, and Konnor get get an easy rep that way. He removed Kiya from floor last minute last year, so I think it would be a good chance to see what Konnor is like.

Regarding floor, Kaliya seems to be out of the picture now. But if we can get Konnor back, that would be a game changer.

Will we get an easier group for regional since we are in first place?

Why is she out? I thought they were resting her and then for sec’s she may have actually been sick and still a little weak. If we could replace Kylie or Sierra with Kailiya then we should be fine. Also replace KJ vault in nationals with Alyona or Kaliya also better. They will not reward a full at nationals! Must be really frustrating for her.

No but we travel to Penn instead Washington so I’m good with that.

We should be matched with Michigan State/Kentucky/ and Arkansas. Then some Lower ranked teams.

Question - does Aleah need the punch front out of her last pass for start value ? If not, I would scrap it (though of course muscle memory is a thing). I am too tired today to calculate it, lol

I believe she still does need it otherwise it would’ve been scrapped years ago. Location wise, penn state is better but Jay has already shared his dislike for the number one seed spot and how it’s actually a disadvantage for any team in post season competition. Penn State is historically a difficult place to compete and get good scores at. OU and any of the other #1 and #2 seeds have an easier road to nationals than us tbh and knowing that Arkansas missed SEC Championships is gonna have them out for blood when it comes to everyone in that regional, us especially. We need to put that meet out of our head COMPLETELY and ignore the fact that them and kentucky are in our regional and just do what we did last night to have a chance at nationals tbh.

Im not worried about Arkansas at all. They are home floor merchants. They are not very good when they are not at home doing the floor event. Even then, people want to say they beat the #2 team twice this year, but it wasn't so much they won as it was LSU and Florida had bad meets. Arkansas didn't put up good scores in those big "wins" either. They finished last in the SEC for a reason.

Arkansas can go ahead and be pissed and play angry. When you play angry, you make mistakes. It's why I don't understand people clutching and saying "oh great Arky or OU are gonna be upset and do x,y,z" this ain't football you can't go impose your will on the other team and punch them in the mouth. Fact is Arkansas were the worst team in the SEC this year and OU has lost the last 2 post season meets they were in and looked like a shook team under pressure both times.

LSU just needs to do their normal and do their job. If they can do that, then there is nothing Arkansas (or anybody else not named OU) can do to match them.

Here’s a question - what about Michigan in this regional? I don’t follow Big Ten, but have they really fallen so far since their championship? I think it was only three years ago?

Should be a three team race between us, Oklahoma and Florida. But Oklahoma showed last year anything can happen. If we just do our normal, we will be hard to beat. Scores early in the season showed how valuable Hailey is. They used her sparingly because of her injury. If they use Conner in the floor lineup, and she performs like last year, watch out

Yeh - I know if we make it there and what it should be - but I was asking specifically about Michigan in our regional (I believe they are one of the geographically assigned teams at Penn State) - specifically if they have really declined in quality as much as their ranking would indicate or if they are a sleeper threat as well

Looking at their scores, they hang around the 196.9 range. Think they broke through the 197. Barrier once. So they are no where close to the level they were win they won the championship a few years ago.

It’s not that they’re nowhere near that level anymore. The problem is that their current roster is the most injury prone roster in the history of NCAA Gymnastics so they’re relying a lot on their freshman this year to carry the team (aka athletes who’ve never competed in college before this year because their upperclasswoman who are also on the team have been chronically injured their entire careers and unable to compete) so injuries and inexperience have played a factor in their struggles this year. Not to mention, all of their all-rounders and top scorers from that national championship team have now graduated out

Yes, I know Wojik and co were gone; I am surprised they didn’t have more depth/recruiting, but know they have been plagued by historically small classes as well as some rumors of a bad environment (I know alyona’s sister medically retired early and Alyona changed her commitment from them to us). My main question really is, if everything went right for them, could they put together a meet that would rival us 1) if we hit and 2) if we don’t. Sounds like definitely not if we hit and probably not wven if we have a bit of a subpar meet (though probably not one where we would have to count two falls)
