LSU has dropped to 6th on floor in the standings. LSU has always been in the top three in rankings over the years. I have struggled to understand some of the scores our team has received on floor this year. I hope Courtney can get the girls that are struggling back on track before the post season. We are going to need all the help we can get to rise to the LSU standard

Do you mean the girls are being underscored? Or they are not performing up to their abilities? Other than Aleah, who do you think is struggling?

And do we even expect to see KJ on floor this year? Each week I hoped she would be back, but now I’m not so hopeful. Especially after she tweaked her ankle again at Kentucky.

Kailya, Chio, Haleigh and sometimes Sierra get lower scores from the judges but should be higher. Aleah is obviously going through a slump and hopefully it will improve soon. KJ is a big question at this point in the season. She is stellar on floor but has an issue with her ankle/foot that has been hard to heal this season.

I heard they were going to let KJ debut her floor routine this weekend on podium before she tweaked her ankle again since landing on podium are easier than the regular floor. Now it’s TBD on if/when we’ll see her this season. As for Konnor, she’s been doing full tumbling and floor sets and it’s likely they’ll let her go his week. if that’s the case, I hope Jay rests Aleah from floor this weekend and puts Konnor in her place instead so she can be ready to go for the last 2 SEC regular season meets (including senior night)

floor rank is entirely because we have the literal NCAA Floor Champion slumping.

and that is not said as a blame game thing, either. Aleah needs support and needs to feel it is ok to make mistakes it is not always on her, and that is what she has been given this team is there for eachother from all accounts. When a girl is struggling, others are there to pick her up. Aleah hard carried the team the first like 3 weeks she was incredible. She is a legend to this program.

Remove the best floor routine for 6 weeks from every team in the nation, and see what their rank is. that is essentially what LSU has been operating at.

we have dropped Aleah's floor score each of the last 5 or 6 weeks (Arkansas we had to count her 9.5, but that is 4 tenths lower than her normal). He poor scores have possibly impacted Bryant who has followed her because that is how stupid judging mindset is where it's about score building (when why can't it just be about the merit of each singular routine? I know that is how it should be, but on floor especially it is not how it is). Bryant might've gotten a 10 vs. OU if Aleah hits her routine, her 9.0 last week becomes a 9.95+ if Aleah hits etc you know how it is.

I am not arguing with you on the whatsoever. My statement was more so about the fact that she went from winning us a national championship straight into training for the olympics and right back into the ncaa pre season training regimen. Aleah has basically been non stop competing since January 2023.

Like you said, that girl has given her all for this program time and time again and proven herself, BUT at the same time, she’s TIRED.

At the same time, I can’t help but thinking that outside voices and opinions have been impacting her and having an affect on her performances on floor so far, trying to prove them wrong. Yes, Jay talks about focusing on the 5 minutes in front of their face but I can’t help but think that him and her always getting asked about her floor struggles this season and people constantly talking about it all over social media in her comments section, the team’s comments section, and clips of the team’s meets on YouTube have had a slight impact on her mentality at times. Yes she probably knows by now how to block out the outside noise and only listen to those within the program who know what’s been going on with her but still it can be hard to do when it’s literally EVERYWHERE she looks

Florida is getting a lot of help with home cooking. Selena got a 10 on vault. Chio or Haleigh are worthy of that as well. Hope it will happen going forward.

198.125 road score, but it is our highest score.

What does that mean for NQS? Does that mean we can't count that score?

FINALLY got our long awaited road 198. If we can do it again next week at UGA and away at Auburn, We’ll have 5 on the season before SECs (3 home, 2 away plus the 197.65 from the sprouts position meet). The highest home 198 will get dropped bumping our teams NQS to over a 198

NQS is top 6 scores count, 3 of which must be away. So in the average, this will end up counting since you must have at least 3 away scores counting in your final NQS

We can't count it for NQS (our highest score) but we have two 198.00's we can count for home scores.

You are incorrect. We CAN count it for NQS BECAUSE 3 of the counting scores of our top 6 MUST be away so that when it averages out, we still have 3 away score in our count

A team's six highest regular season scores are used to calculate NQS.
198.125 (A), 198.050, 198.000, 197.650 (A), 197.550, 197.300 (A)

At least three of the six scores must be from away meets.
198.125 (A), 197.650 (A), 197.300 (A)

The highest score is dropped.
198.125 (A)

The remaining five scores are averaged.
197.710

is this right?

I am not sure at this point. I have been keeping up with the NQS and have been right on in calculating it each time matching the standings when they come out. There is an average score where all scores are counted and the 198.125 would be factored in for sure. If the 198.125 is our highest score then it will be dropped. I guess we will see on Monday when the standings are posted.

The answer is if we got a 198 on the road that is now part of our 6…but once you have the 6 you drop the highest and average the remaining five. So it is part of our NQS, but by operation of the formula isn’t actually part of the calculation.

Pippa, You posted the scores that should be the correct formula. I failed to drop the 197.2 from Kentucky to replace it with the 197.55. I believe the 197.710 is the NQS for this week.

I know we’re not supposed to comment on the girls’ bodies but man Lily Smith looks thin. I hope she just has a super high metabolism. I know this sport is a breeding ground for eating disorders but I hope it’s not that. She looks like she’s thinner than last year.
