Florida just had another girl go down with an achilles injury (Sloane Blakely). Alabama is now 0-6 on the season in SEC competition and they’re “hosting” championships (yet won’t even be competing it seems at this point) as well as a regional site this year (though they’re currently ranked 17th).
Safe to say: OU is our only competition for any title this year (SEC or National) and I’m totally fine with that. Next week on podium will be a HUGE test for us to see truly how good we are since post season will have a similar format (away scoring and on podium)

Well, Auburn competed at Alabama and got a 197.7 road score tonight.
I hope Jay encourages the team to work on bar and beam landings this week. The lack of sticks is killing the girls' scores

Unfortunately it was a very accurately scored meet for them too. They had very minimal errors

Oklahoma finished with a 198.075 and Florida 196.625.
Anya Pilgrim was hurt also. Not sure about the injury.

Achilles tear for Sloane Blakely. Ou will drop the “198.075” (more accurately 198 even at best). Their NQS goes up to 197.765. Not sure what score we need to pass them in the standings but I’m sure a road 198 next 2 weeks would help GREATLY

I wouldn't worry too much about passing OU in NQS. It really does not matter.
For SEC Regular Season title purposes, the focus the rest of the season is beating UGA and Auburn. Being able to now drop the Arkansas score takes a little pressure off.
Good news is the team has not peaked yet and still has not done their best gymnastics IMO.

also I hope Jay shuffles the floor order.
I think I would swap Aleah and Chio just give it a different look.
I am all for keeping Aleah in she has earned her place god knows she is a program legend, but she is really hurting the score building potential right now. Just marching out the same back end of the order and making no adjustments is a little frustrating at the moment.

It matters when it comes to post season. I’d rather be in a regional with Michigan, Michigan State and UGA in Seattle than than Cal, Kentucky and Arkansas in Tuscaloosa or at Penn State. The Seattle regional is going to be an easier win than last year’s runner up and 2 SEC teams

So who does this leave for vault now? Lexie I know, but anyone else. I really think they should rest Aleah on floor next week. I wonder if she took out the sting mat if that would help. I’ve seen that thing hurt more than help. Kaliyah should definitely move down in floor. They should at least switch her and Ballard. Maybe next week put coen on floor and see how it goes.
Poor Florida. I actually felt really bad for them last night. Poor skye broke my heart when I saw her crying about her sister. I think Anya was precautionary for concussion. She should be back.

it's too far away to worry about regional seeding.
If we are being honest with ourselves, we are not going to catch Oklahoma in NQS it is a waste of energy imo.
we need to focus on getting the landings right and beating UGA+Auburn. that is the task at hand.
they are playing for something tangible in an SEC regular season title. It obviously isn't THE prize they are competing for cause those are the natty and SEC post season title, but its still something to keep fighting towards.

what are they taking on Chio's beam? I'm tired of this
If you want to be picky as hell you could say maybe the full turn but hers isn’t really different than anyone else’s.
Not sure how a routine that good continues to be given 9.9s when it’s really 9.95 quality.
Same with her vault. You have people having vaults with hops and scoring near her vault scores despite sticking it with pretty good overall form.

On vault, it might be distance…but again, other vaults that score higher also lack distance (and hers honestly is pretty good)
Posted on 2/22/25 at 6:41 pm to LSUgymfan420
I feel like distance is okay but maybe the amplitude? Still regardless they aren’t really differentiating the better routines well across ncaa this year. I don’t wanna see 10s fly but now there are afraid to give anyone a big score it seems lately

Do you know if we are recruiting Kendall Morgan? She’s uncommitted and I see she’s training a 1 1/2. Looks like she would be a good pickup. I see her followed by Bugs.

California and UCLA are getting good scores. The judging in other conferences appears to be a more forgiving than in the SEC.

My question from this weekend is were Oklahoma’s 198s real? I didn’t have a chance to watch either of them.
Posted on 2/23/25 at 10:44 pm to LSUgymfan420
I didn’t watch the Metroplex challenge (todays meet) but the judges have a 9.875 to a beam routine that had a major form break on the series and shouldn’t have scored any higher than a 9.85. Then on floor have a 9.975 to a floor routine with a VERY noticeable foot slide, a 10 to a routine with leaps not fully rotated. So…….. no it was very much not real
EDIT TO ADD: not sure if anyone else watched the SEC special on OU Gymnastics the other day/night (Inside Oklahoma Gymnastics). It peeked my interest for the sole reason of understanding how they are so technically perfect within their approach to their skills at practice. What I discovered is that they are actually not as technically perfect or excellent as people believe them to be. Yes they have an innate ability to dial in their landings almost all the time, but they have the exact same form deductions through every single skill they do that the gymternet LOVES to call our girls out for, but turns a blind eye to when it comes to Oklahoma. For example Jordan Bowers gets 10s on vault for elbows that are more bent on the table, ankles that are more crossed, shoulders that are more angled, less height, less distance, less amplitude, hips that are more piked, and legs that are more bent than Aleah’s, even to the naked eye. Even in her double twist on floor, her ankles are visibly crossed, her knees are bent, her hips are piked and she bends her elbows on the front hand sprint. If our girls, who are much cleaner throughout their skills than the OU girls, can figure out how to better dial in their landings, it’ll expose the flaws in the OU routines come SECs and Nationals and give us the best chance at beating them again when it matters. So to answer your question: NO. NEITHER ONE OF THEIR 198s was real

LSU has dropped to 6th on floor in the standings. LSU has always been in the top three in rankings over the years. I have struggled to understand some of the scores our team has received on floor this year. I hope Courtney can get the girls that are struggling back on track before the post season. We are going to need all the help we can get to rise to the LSU standard.
