The biggest key will be be Aleah figuring out her issues. I think she can (and I was also someone who suggested she be moved from beam anchor last year), but I would like her to get one good meet under her belt so she can feel confident. Hopefully that happens this weekend.

Truly, though, as someone else mentioned, I am not sure how many times we can beat Oklahoma so would rather save it til it matters, lol.

Calling the weekly awards for next week right now:
Gymnast: Kailin
Specialist: Sierra
Freshman: Kaliya

Be on the lookout though for the scores of the UCLA and Utah meets tonight. It’ll determine whether we stay 2 or drop down as low as 4

Do we have anyone else that can do beam? Haleigh just seems off this season on beam. Not her usual Haleigh self. I think Aleah just needs a rest. She’s all up in her head on beam and then has to go on floor where she tries to overcompensate or she’s fatigued.

If our bars get better we can beat anyone in the country. May need to try a lineup change in beam and see if that shakes some things up. Lexie’s form is getting better every week so maybe move her down put Jeff back in first. I don’t know I just say try something different. We looked really good tonight, especially the younger girls.

Not happening. Leanne and Selena both got 39.75 tonight. Plus if they go by last week Kaitlin will always just get fotw even if she gets higher score because she scored higher than faith last week but faith still got gotw. Sierra should for sure get specialist. Or Kaliyah.

LSU had the advantage of doing that against the number one team in the country though. That plays into the equation when deciding awards

To me bars is the biggest spot we have to clean up and it’s not close

Im pleased with where we are heading on the other events

Aleah really needs a break, maybe put Dunne or coen on floor next week

Question; I was at the meet but am rewatching the broadcast. They said chase was supposed to go on floor or vault. Who do you think she was supposed to go I. For? Do you think k they were perhaps trying to give Aleah a rest (I think it may be likely that she was going to go for Aleah on vault and Sierra on floor…but I think maybe after sierra’s beam set they might have put Sierra in in any event, all other things being equal)

She was definitely supposed to be on floor for sierra. Vault I was thinking kj.

Kentucky is away next week and we need that win and a big score 197.5+ that is a trap meet that should not be taken lightly. Kentucky are pests and always give us fits.

Aleah is just mental focus with the oob. she would have put up a big 9.95-maybe even a 10 if she stayed in she was popping off her floor looked great otherwise. Bryant stays on beam now and forever.

I think the move is to flip Bryant and Aleah on floor for 1 week, and have the intention of resting Aleah if they can count the 5 scores that come before her or sub her out. Or hope that Alyona has a floor or KJ can come back. There is a Finnegan crisis on floor at this point, but we ride or we die with Aleah she means so much.

Bars is the weakest event this year. Konnor is still working towards finding her landing on the dismount. She'll get it, give her time. Maybe move her up in the lineup and put either Chio or Cowan (I know he won't) as the anchor? Jay is probably set in his ways with bars.

I agree - Kentucky is always hard, home or away, but especially away. The coaches will have to work hard on the mentality this week to avoid another Arkansas - we honestly can’t really afford that at this point (I mean we can but it won’t help our confidence and the opportunities for away scores are lessening).

Honestly, I don’t know what the move is with Aleah. I felt for her because you could see, even in the arena and definitely on tv, that she was upset after floor. Maybe it’s time to take a break - while this team is always better with an on Aleah - they proved tonight they could do it on a very large stage without her (though I thought we might have lost it with the missed opportunity with Haleigh and Aleah on beam) - so maybe it’s ok to give her a mental break off of floor or beam to try to help her reset.

I hope they can figure it out as she is genuinely a beautiful gymnast and really an integral part of the team. As they keep reiterating in press conferences/broadcasts - she’s essentially been going nonstop for 2.5-3 years.

Wow, Oklahoma is getting hammered on Reddit for leaving the meet before Haleigh was finished on floor. Did anyone see if this really happened? If so, that would not show good sportsmanship and very surprising of KJ and the Sooners.

To be fair I read OU went into the tunnel area because of how loud it was while their coaches tried to talk to them and then came back to congratulate LSU

Yes that’s what someone else said. Kj did not look happy tonight especially after almost every beam dismount.

Chio winning the AA against the #1 team in the country was impressive

Lilly from OU is outstanding although I have to think Chio is the front runner for SEC FOY so far and probably the best nationally so far this season

With looking at Haleigh's stuck vault several times, does anyone else think that a 9.95 was low?

I was personally fine with 9.95 for that one tbh, I've seen her do better vaults. It could have been because her chest was a little forward but its crazy to get the OU vault with a mini hop a 9.975 after that

I think Avery was her best competition until she got hurt.

Avery and Utah are not in the SEC and have never been nor will they ever be. Therefore she will never be in contention with any of our girls for any SEC awards, but especially FOTY
