No, 247 ranks him 698 and his composite is 278. The composite represents his average ranking (probably thru some ridiculously overly complicated methodology given that it is 247) by all the major ranking services.

Exactly. If 247 had him ranked at 278, his composite would be much closer to where it should be. Having that kid ranked lower than 200 is ridiculous.

This year there is a clear cut top 3 (Bama, Georgia , Clemson), then a gap down to LSU at 4, and then another gap down to 6-8, then another gap down to a whole crowded field of teams. So there are a number of different tiers.
I'm not sure why you're getting downvoted, because this is 100% true. It's worth adding, though, that if LSU can sign Burch, we wouldn't jump up any spots in the rankings--that is, we'd still be #4--but we would jump up into the first tier.
In other words, there's currently no real difference between Clemson/Bama/Georgia, but those 3 are a bit ahead of LSU. LSU and OSU are close to each other, but are a bit ahead of numbers 6 through whatever. If LSU signs Burch, though, there will be no real difference between Clemson/Bama/UGA/LSU--however you rank them would basically come down to personal preference.

Wow, and everyone thought that Clemson was a lock for #1 after early signing day.
