I hope like hell Williams proves everyone wrong and comes back.

I'm missing something, because I can't see how we would be able to fit Watford, Days and Cisse all on the roster.

Can somebody check my math?

1. Smart
2. Manning
3. Watford
4. Days
5. Hyatt
6. O'Neal
7. LeBlanc
8. Thomas
9. Cook
10. Wilkinson
11. Ezewiro
12. Gaines
13. Gray

That would mean Watford or Days would have to go pro or Hyatt would have to get run in order to take Cisse, no?

That's a very strong and deep team if everyone, including the transfers are eligible.

PG - Smart (6'4"); Gaines (6'3")
SG - Manning (6'4"), Thomas (6'3"), Hyatt (6'3")
SF - Days (6'6"), LeBlanc (6'7")
PF - Watford (6'9"), O'Neal (6'9"), Wilkinson (6'6")
C - Gray (7'0"), Ezewiro (6'8")

Not that we'll have one of the true centers on the court for any appreciable length of time. I'm thinking starting 5 of Smart, Manning, Days, Watford and O'Neal with Thomas being the first off the bench and Gray to come in to protect the rim. Adding Cisse and this team could be a top 5 team.

You forgot Cook, which you should not do.

Seems like Hyatt is pushing more like 6’6” to 6’7”

Hyatt is nowhere near 6-6/6-7.

He’s listed at 6-5 which means he’s probably 6-4 at best.

with Thomas being the first off the bench

Barring injury or something off the wall happening, I don’t see any way that Cam Thomas is not your starting SG. He is a 5 star top 10-15 player and was one of, if not the most, prolific scorers on summer circuit last year.

Plus Manning is not really a 2 guard in Wade’s system. He is more of your SF position.

Guard rotation will likely be more of a Smart, Thomas, Cook rotation, with Manning helping as needed at times. Gaines could see a few minutes; but with his lack of size (bulk, not height) and the fact that he probably doesn’t get a full Summer in the strength program, he is likely to be limited some this year.

There is zero chance Thomas doesn’t start in my opinion.

Yes, Wade has every intention to start Thomas in place of Mays to replace the scoring loss there since Thomas will likely be the best scorer on the team. I wouldn't expect him to play less than 30 minutes a game, and might even lead the team in minutes next season.

Manning can be pretty versatile, but I kind of agree in smaller lineups (3 guard), I'd have Manning at the 3 with guys like Thomas, Smart, Cook and Gaines manning the 1 and 2. It will still be a bit position less at the 1/2 next season like this past season, because Thomas, Smart Cook and even Gaines to an extent are all scorers not just ball handlers, none I'd say are elite ball handlers/distributors which is also why I wouldnt peg any of them as just a "1".

Agree on all accounts.

Do we expect any newcomers to be here only one year?

Thomas I'd say is a likely 1 and done considering his propensity to score and how easy it comes for him. He doesnt have good NBA size but the NBA will always love an effortless scorer.

Pretty much the only reason Thomas isn't like a Top 10 recruit is he's maybe 6'2-6'3 instead of 6'5ish, or because at his height he wouldn't be considered a PG really. Every "SG" in front of him in the 247 composite is 6'5 or taller.

I personally think Cook is on the outside looking in for playing time. Gaines has absolutely blown up and if he progresses like he did last summer, then we got an absolute steal. The guy is 6'4 and is an electric athlete.

I love Cook, I think he's a baller and then some...but again, you're talking about a 5'11 PG and often times they seem to have a bit slower transition to high D1 bball. I think he will be a player that struggles as a Freshman and then his Sophomore or Junior year will explode and be the relentless scorer we've seen at Walker.

Yep. Coolk is physically ready to compete next year.

Gaines needs to be in the Myles Brennan diet.

I'll admit I haven't watched a bunch of his film; but listening to Wade talk about him, it seems as though his strength is way more in his handling and distributing skills than scoring. And that he is really good at that part of his game. In fact Wade even said that he has a bit of hotdog in him when it comes to handling and that they will have to tone that down a little in him.
