I mean from a rules standpoint. The SEC does not allow one-year transfers, supposedly.

went and read the SEC rule, basically you can apply for the waiver. Just guessing the rule was put in place so the SEC office could keep Masoli from happening again

Why is the SEC worried about crappy QBs going to Ole Miss for one year?

SEC didn't want to be the landing place for athletes running from suspensions, etc.

Nothing earth-shattering, but it's something new.

Daily Revielle

quote:

With national signing day already a week in the rearview, there’s little time for Jones to identify big-time talent and get them to campus.

At his introductory press conference Monday, Jones said he’s focused more on the program’s long-term health than bringing in players just to fill scholarships.

“We don’t want to waste any scholarships and be hung out there with somebody for the next three or four years that’s not going to help move the program forward,” he said.

I did a little looking into Zane Knowles, a center from Pearl River Community College and a transfer from Grambling.

He has not signed, but is only getting low-major and mid-major looks at this time. I'm not saying he's not coming to LSU, but it appears very doubtful LSU is interested, unless they just get desperate for a warm body. If PRCC assistant Chris Oney is hired, then perhaps things could change.

For now, I look for Knowles to go back to the SWAC, or a similar conference.

Bubba, again thanks for keeping us up to date. It is troubling that we don't have any bigs that look to be at least respectable. On the other hand you do have to have a warm body when JOB gets in foul trouble. If we don't recruit someone who will that be? Eddie unless he puts on some muscle is just not going to make it as a center. Courtney would be even worse. This is what really worries me about next season.

Lets shift focus to the one guy we know we have. What do yall know of Morgan? Anyone seen him play? My hope is that he will be starting at 2 by the end of the season moving Turner/ Hammink to the SF position and moving Stringer into a 6th man and backup PG role.

If Morgan is servicable defensively then LSU can be even better than last year defensively. TJ did a good job with them defensively.

Just because we don't know about recruits, doesn't mean they don't exist. I expect at least one post player to be signed.

I have no doubt we will sign probably Coleman and Hammink. Also, jones knows that he needs a Center to keep JOB playing the 4 (most of the time) and by proxy happy

Just wanted some info on the type of player we were getting with Morgan

I have seen Morgan play, but not a lot. He is a shooter and a scorer. I would compare him to John Isaac with a much better outside shot.

Hopefully, Coleman will be playing the three and Morgan, Turner and Isaac will compete for the 2. Stringer will be the backup 1 and 2.

You forgot Hammink, Bubba. If he's here, he's going to play somewhere (might not start, but he'll be the 6th man if he doesn't).

Yeah, when you throw Hammink in the mix, that's a pretty loaded group. Someone might have to redshirt.

Has anyone called out Jordy on his bullshite signee prediction, 4 days ago?

That guy is close personal friends with Johnny. If he can't get accurate scoop now, he needs to quit.

I'm guessing Johnny told him he was taking two kids, and I'm guessing one of them was Odoh. And I'm guessing they haven't done the deal to bust him out of his letter at UNT, so they don't have anything to announce.

And I'm guessing the final take from the spring period is going to be Coleman, Hammink and Odoh, plus maybe another post guy that whoever this JUCO coach might bring if he's hired.

It isn't Jordy, it is Johnny. Johnny said it on Jordy's show. Jordy has repeated that Johnny told him that each day. So he has pretty much admitted every day on air that Johnny was wrong, at least about them coming in that day. So no need to call Jordy out.

Odoh and Knowles, if it happened, would at least add some depth in the post. I wouldn't be against either, or both of them.
