LSU sold me the whole seat but I'll only need the edge for this one.
Starring:
as Trent Johnson
as Joe Alleva
as Eddie Ludwig
as Collis Temple Jr.

so many chips left to fall now in recruiting.
curious to see how this affects the destinations of coleman and hammink.

Depends on the hire. I would think Jones has inroads with both them. Geert played for Johnny, and JJ recruits Texas JUCOs and South La.
I hope it's not Jones, though.

I'm not pushing anyone yet but what is the downside to Jones IYO?
Posted on 4/7/12 at 2:08 pm to GeorgeTheGreek
Nothing personal. He could be good, but it's a risk we shouldn't have to take. Our sights should be set higher.
I also don't like his Dale/Collis connections.

What coach do you honestly think we have a legit chance with, that doesn't come with risks?

Bubba,
You are right about the Dale/Collis connection.
Let the AD and Chancellor do their job.

I have no idea. Based on history with Alleva -- Trent, Nikki -- there is every reason to expect a national candidate. I don't expect a candidate with LSU ties, like JJ. Just my opinion.
Alleva has more history at LSU, more knowledge and familiarity with the BOS, more knowledge of the financials. I expect him to swing for the fences.

Bubba if Scott Drew is offer the job will he take it?

if Drew does take the job I could see a class of Gathers, Pelle or Upshaw & Coleman signing

I don't have any personal knowledge, but I doubt it.

Speaking of Drew and young coaches..
Shaka Smart?
Brad Stevens?
Bryce Drew?

The first two are dreams. If Illinois can't get Smart, neither can LSU.
And the third is unproven.

I know. Older Bro Scott was the same.
Scott coached under his dad for 9-10 years at Valpo, one year as Valpo HC (22-11 rec) after his dad retired the first time, and Baylor hired him.
Bryce was an assistant for 5 years at Valpo from 2006-2011 under his dad, who came back as HC after Scott left, before taking over as HC last year (22-12 rec) from his dad.
I'd hire Bryce before I hired JJ.

Totally impressed by the concept of CBA!
This past Easter weekend I enjoyed watching talented boys who practice 2 or 3 times a day with an enthusiastic and completely devoted coach Rob Orellana at the international tournament in Tourcoing (France). This coach has a vision based on insight, discipline and tactics, but ...first and foremost he stays true to his main goal: to bring his players to the best college or right professional team by developing them his way.
The first game of CBA in France they faced an elite formation from the USA. This team consists of: Savon Goodman (recruited by Villanova), Aron Harisson (Kentucky), Andrew Harisson (Kentucky, Baylor), Robert Upshaw (Louisville, Georgetown), Drew Davis (South Florida). These player are top players from high schools in the US.
CBA wins this first game by 5 points! This is an extraordinary result! CBA defeats the Americans by playing a mix of a European and American style. Controlled, fundamentally sound, and intelligent basketball. The following games against, Euro-Metropole, Canada and the national team of Poland are also won by CBA. During all these games all the players of CBA got minutes and showed their talents. I don’t want to say anything about the developments during the tournament, my thoughts regarding that matter consists of assumptions and emotions and it is surely irrelevant sharing these. The final was against the American team they had beaten before. After an awesome first half CBA was up by 7 when the Americans changed tactics. All aspects that make basketball a great sport are shown. The American team is the better team the second half and won the game and tournament. Their players were treated like pop stars by the crowd. Hundreds of young French kids (mostly girls) wanted to have their pictures taken with the players.
In conclusion and my opinion:
Dutch CBA player Shane Hammink: MVP of the tournament! Mind this, the age limit of this tournament is 23. Shane is 17!
Jito Kok: Great performances the first 4 games, unlucky in the finals.
Boris Bojanovsky: Showed his potential in the finals! Great future!
Simon Krajkovic: Amazing! I had seen him previously in Kaunas, one of the best guards I have ever seen, possesses a great basketball mentality.
Oskar Reinfeld: Also showed flashes of brilliance... who is gonna stop him in a couple of years?
I am not forgetting the other players, CBA acted and played as a TEAM. Surely there are many people in the Dutch basketball world (and definitely in the world basketball scene) with more extensive knowledge of the game. The above is what I saw. Thanks CBA for a great tournament and keep up the great work. Thanks to the organizers of the Tourcoing event for a very good organised tournament.

Sounds like Hammink Is the real deal and a must get

Thanks for that. I knew that tournament was going on. I actually tried to watch some of the web video feed, but the quality was horrible. I have been looking for results/boxscores, but have been unable to find any.
Do you have stats from the tournament? I want to see what Hammink was able to do against the top U.S. players.

Besides a few blurbs with the score, the below is the only detail I could find on the tournament. CBA bea the US team early in the tournament, and then lost to them in the championship. Hammink was the tournament MVP with a game high 17 points in the title game.
Note: The link is in Dutch and the text below is from google translate, which is why it is kind of nonsensical.

The Dutch boys ball income in Spain have the Easter weekend with their club CBA the highly acclaimed international U23 tournament in Tourcoing, France played. Matthias Runs, Jito Cook, Hidde Fox, Shane Hammink was the Dutch who for the "elite team" of CBA should come out with highly acclaimed talents such as Boris Bojanovsky, Oskar Reinfeld, Volodymyr Gerun, and Belgian Thierry Fassaert.
Other teams in the tournament came from Poland, Lithuania, France, Serbia, Canada, Russia and the USA, it was very talented and perhaps favorite "Elite Team USA" with multiple high school All-Americans and some college players.
Our Nedrlandse CBA'ers won every match in the group (28 minutes games) culminating in the pot won by the Americans (56-60). Shane Hammink led all the competition with 17 points.
In the semi-finals was relatively easy for the Poles won (43-52) in the other semifinal won the U.S. in a small war of the Serbs (56-51), resulting in a second match CBA - USA. This time the prize.
Yesterday, on Easter Monday was the final (40 minutes game now) in a crowded hall played almost entirely behind the Americans stood. The "run and gun" plus the jumping and acrobatics had during the tournament, especially the young French public to rally behind him and know that support was found to bring with them. Yet the CBA that the first half with a lead of 7 points to close co-managed by 11 points Hammink. The second half seemed a lid on the ring to sit the CBA shots were not even enforced by playing a better USA. Eventually the Americans knew the 23rd edition of the tournament Tourcoing on their name to be written by 63-55 with forty minutes to close.
One of the youngest players (the youngest?) In the tournament, the 17 year old Dutchman Shane Hammink, was chosen to best player of the tournament (MVP, or "Meilleur joueur the Tournoi") and should receive a nice cup.

Shavon Coleman is now going to visit Nebraska and Memphis, while LSU looks for a new coach (from various reports).
It appears that he is waiting on LSU and will sign with us, unless the new coach doesn't want him, or he is wowed by Nebraska or Memphis.
